MemberI see that the graphics memory has a minimum of 8 and a max of 128mb I am wondering if there is any way to change this so it always has 128mb or can it be increased to 256mb? would fixing it at 128mb all the time improve anything as far as video performance?

MemberThe chipset is dynamic and as such when it requires more memory for graphics processing the system allocates it and when it doesent it restores it back to system memory. The 128mb is fixed by the bios

Yes, upgrade your NC10 to 2gigs of ram. Then you get access to 256mb of ram. But why do you want that? More memory is just handy for higher resolutions. The card just isnt fast enough for games.December 10, 2008 at 11:51 pm #174638soutthpaw
MemberNot sure why i would need it, was just going under the more is better idea. actually i would like to try running a ps1 or ps2 emulator on the NC10 to see if it will work.. my 2gb ram is in the mail so I guess it will automatically increase then to a mzx of 256mb when i pul that chip in

Member256MB will also help for games with large textures. The GMA950 chipset may not be good for any reasonably newish games. However it won’t be quite as slow if it doesn’t have to stream textures from outside of video ram so much. Even games from years back can take advantage of 256MB of video ram for textures.

MemberThe graphics memory will not increase when you install 2gb ram. Samsung will have to bring out a BIOS update to increase the graphics memory when using 2gb, just like they did with the MSI Wind.
