So I finished my mod more or less. I found using 3.3v would let the OS’s see the card reader but wouldn’t read the card. I tapped 5v off the nearby webcam.
Sadly the BIOS doesn’t let me boot from the spare PCIE slot. It shows up in the OS’s and is great but I can’t boot from it, which was 80% of the point of doing it :p
The FM transmitter is quite good, I used the same one as in this guys thread and added a bank of switches that I can use my swiss army tweezer to turn off when not it use. I will investigate battery life with it on later…. Does anyone know of drivers that can control the headphone detection.
Im able to triple boot too which is pretty cool, I’d forgotten how nice OSX is. Pity the wifi doesn’t work but I have a USB adapter if need be that fills the gap.
Oh and my 2Gb 6400 from play turned up this morning so I am set and ready for my trip back to Mexico on Wednesday. Continental has AC voltage under the seats these days… very handy!
I finally made a post with photos and more information
Let me know what you think or if you want more info.
what is the fm transmitter for?
For FM radio on the move probably.
transmitter? For transmitting the sound to a fm capable device?

One use would be to broadcast music to your car’s radio. (I had an MP3 player with that built in; it was nice not having to buy a transmitter.)
hm…using a netbook as an mp3 player? Don’t we usually have an ipod for that? haha.
Actually, it would be nice when watching movies with nc10 because I couldn’t hear much when the car was moving at around 60~70mph because of the tire and wind noise.
the link doesn’t work…
and if i were to install a internal sd card reader, would i have to take out the wifi hardware?
