MemberWell, it’s marketed for the MSI Wind, but would it work for the NC10?
Anyone here interested in doing this mod?[MOD EDIT] Link shortened. 🙂

MemberI would love to own the shiney balls for this mod, but looking at the instructions for the Wind, it looks like a tricky soldering job.
Although once this mod becomes the standard, and perhaps solderless options become available, I might take the plunge.
Is that the only 10.2″ option?, would you have thought that the connections would have been the same?, same screen type ect.
I heard that the MSI Wind’s screen is less impressive than the NC10, so I would also need to be happy that the quality of image wasn’t taking a hit.

MemberSideburnt,
I went to the listed website which says the kit is for an Acer Aspire One, which does not have a 10.2″ screen.

MemberI found more info in my lunchbreak.
on this website: http://www.gblcd.com/resistive_touch_screens.htm
They have two types of 10.2″ Touch Screen.Apparently they can match the correct touchscreen with an existing LCD screen part number.

[/quote1228310767]That would make me seriously consider opening up mine and voiding that warranty! Touchscreen would be so cool. Give it a year or so and it will be standard anyway!

MemberThats true, a year is a heartbeat in IT terms.
Im starting to think there would be little value in a touchscreen anyway, sure GPS would be amazing function to have, but for what use?, I can imagine a car mount would be fun but where would you mount it, the keyboard would stick out a mile.Browsing would be fun, but a bit fiddley, since there isnt the link snapping, like you would get in mobile browsing.
I would chalk this one up as a ‘yes you can do it, but why’

MemberWindows 7 has a lot of touchscreen enhancements so netbooks may move towards them when it comes out.
Personally I couldn’t deal with the finger prints.

I hear you on that! This is the main reason why I abhor touchscreen handsets with few ‘actual’ buttons, or slide-out keyboards.I think it’s great that a lot of the tech industry is moving towards touchscreen implementations on a wide range of devices, but I would still prefer to use a stylus over my finger any day as a stylus doesn’t leave a mark like a fingerprint does.

MemberHow about touchless touch on your netbook?

MemberI can just imagine our poor little Atom chips getting so maxed out on anticipating, identifying and interpreting all our touchless touch gestures that they have no cycles left to actually implement the instructions we are trying to make.
