Looked at play.com today, nc10 £329.99, looks like some other retailers are doing the same….hmmmm, not heard of that happening before, hopefully they won’t shoot themselves in the foot.
November 27, 2008 at 10:51 am #171817limesmoothMembereBuyer have done this as well, so I ordered from Misco. Guess it is a product in demand. The original price at launch was to be £329 but Samsung dropped it down to £299 when it shipped. Looks like retailers are asking what they think they can get away with.
November 27, 2008 at 11:17 am #171816TheRingMemberinteresting with ebuyer, as i was ordering a quad core processor, it was about 104 normal retail price then yesterday that went straight up to 125. a lot of retailers are seemingly increasing price of goods by 2.5% or more for some strange reason. call me synaical, or maybe its just too much demand not enough supply.
November 27, 2008 at 11:22 am #171824SamuelMemberThis happened last Christmas with the Eee 701 which was launche around this time back then. They were so popular at launch that suppliers put their prices up. Just supply and demand I reckon.
Of course, with the fall of the pound recently a lot more imported goods where retailers make small margins could be set to go up around 10% or more …. which means that computers and associated gear could be hard hit. That’s why I ordered the black last week instead of waiting for the blue version.

November 27, 2008 at 12:48 pm #171820Sam SungMemberThey will probably put the price down again for the post-Christmas sales.
An elementary lesson in Economics. When demand exceeds supply, prices will rise (ceteris paribus). notice that the price of some netbooks has fallen. Another elementary lesson in Economics. When supply exceeds demand, prices will fall (ceteris paribus).
November 27, 2008 at 3:20 pm #171822BritmanMemberWhen I first heard about the price increase I thought that maybe they had a new model out with 3G. But alas it good old greed.
November 27, 2008 at 3:49 pm #171826BlackWhizzMemberWell, i think its because the nc10 is a great netbook and everyone wants one. Now, the world hasnt got enough NC10’s and the last ones which are on sale are worth more.
Samsung has to produce more of these babies 🙂
November 27, 2008 at 4:11 pm #171819hefMemberthey’re only worth more if they’re in stock…

November 27, 2008 at 6:15 pm #171823TheoMemberThe pound has dropped, a lot recently and while suppliers may soak up some of the difference.
With an in demand product, why not pass on the increased cost ?
Having said that good prices are still available, checking my email this evening I see Dixons did a 1 day on line discount through today with the offer changing hourly.
The 4 – 5 p.m. offer was 5% off any item so at the current £299 it would have cost £285 + postage minus Top Cash discount for a Samsung NC10.
It’s just a case of keeping an eye out for the bargins
November 27, 2008 at 7:29 pm #171827Tora75MemberHi guys i bought mine from Dabs for 298.00(black one) then 30 mins later they jumped on the price rise wagon 329.99 lol plus its already been shipped!!!!i am well happy i got in just in time………….
November 27, 2008 at 9:55 pm #171815sideeffectMemberI’m going to sell mine when they reach £350 🙂
November 27, 2008 at 10:29 pm #171825topcatMemberI ordered my NC10 from a samsung on line retailer. There were issues with their website so the payment didn’t go through, in the meantime the price went up. Fortunately for me the old price was still valid and I got my black nc10 a couple of days later.
Interestingly when I enquired about the availability of the blue model, the customer care person said that Samsung and QVC had done a deal , and that’s why there was a bit of a shortage of these netbooks. Apparently at the start of December QVC would be selling these netbooks, and if previous deals are anything to go by, they will be a little cheaper than the high st and have a really good bundle.
I can’t guarantee this info, but if you can wait a few days, it just might be to your advantage. -
