Mr T
MemberHi, I have entered a passowrd on my NC10 and in theprocess I have either caught the caps lock, entered using the function key or misspeelt the password.
I can get into my user account using a set password, but once the screensaver comes on and Im required to log back in, it reverts back to this error password.
I cannot change the passowrd, as i dont know the correct input for the old one and the passowrd hint is no use to me.Any idea how I can chamge this, as cant keep looging in and out everytime the login option comes on.

ParticipantWhen starting up press F8 and choose “Safe Mode”.
Once started up log in as “Administrator”, the password is blank.
If it’s not an option, at the login screen press Ctrl + Alt + Del twice, it should show the old login window. Enter “Administrator” as the username and leave the password blank.Once logged in go to the Control Panel > User Accounts
You should be able to change your accounts password.

MemberAaaaah….beaten to it by Alfihar – too much typing !lol
As an alternative to Alfihar’s method as long as you can get into the system:
-
Create a new user:
-
Click on ‘Start’ and select ‘Settings’ > ‘Control Panel’ > ‘User Accounts’
-
In ‘Pick a task…’ select ‘Create a new account’
-
In ‘Name the new account’ type a name, e.g. Rescue
-
In ‘Pick an account type’ select ‘Computer Administratror’ and click on the ‘Create Account’ button
-
Logoff
your username and logon to your new user and delete the password on your username:
-
Click on ‘Start’ and select ‘Log Off
your username‘
-
Select ‘Log Off’ and click on the account you’ve just created, e.g. ‘Rescue’
-
Click on ‘Start’ and select ‘Settings’ > ‘Control Panel’ > ‘User Accounts’
-
In ‘Pick a task…’ select ‘Change an account’
-
In ‘Pick an account to change’ select
your username
-
In ‘What do you want to change about
your username‘s account?’ select either ‘Remove the password’
-
In ‘Are you sure you want to remove
your username‘s password? click on the ‘Remove password’ button
-
Logoff the ‘Rescue’ account and logon to your
your username and delete the ‘Rescue’ account:
-
Click on ‘Start’ and select ‘Log Off Rescue’
-
Select ‘Log Off’ and click on your old account, e.g.
your username
-
Click on ‘Start’ and select ‘Settings’ > ‘Control Panel’ > ‘User Accounts’
-
In ‘Pick a task…’ select ‘Change an account’
-
In ‘Pick an account to change’ select ‘Rescue’
-
In ‘What do you want to change about Rescue’s account?’ select ‘Delete the account’
-
In ‘Do you want to keep Rescue’s files?’ select ‘Delete Files’
-
In ‘Are you sure you want to delete rescue’s account’ select ‘Delete Account’
-
If you wish, you can now create a password on
your username‘s account.
Hope that helps
