Mymy
MemberHi all,
I’m new to this forum but been reading the posts for the past 3 months and thanks to you will definitely get this netbook!!
Looking for a deal at the moment and this is the cheapest I found so far from Dixons when you enter voucher code Feb2, a further £5 is waved and free delivery woohoo!!
Dixons
Unless you know of a slightly better deal, will go for this one.
Thanks

MemberAh sorry, already a thread opened on this 🙂

MemberHi Mymy, FYI Dixons links will “time out” as they include the browser SessionID in the URL. You can’t just cut and paste them I’m afraid – I’m sure they’ll fix it as it makes their session tracking/reporting a nightmare Im sure. This also allows people to continue your session, not a big deal but can cause probs!
I’ve replaced the link anyways. If you click through from here then you help support the site – a couple of pounds go to the help the web server fund!
Is that a good deal? I think so. Amazon was hovering just over £300 iirc. I’m sure other forum members will chip if they know a better one.

MemberThanks Jez, didn’t realise about the session.
This deal is on until 6th of Feb, other members may have heard better as you say 🙂

MemberI don’t have an Egg card but thank you for mentionning it Trude.
Noticed some slightly cheaper deals on ebay but is it reliable? Wonder if anyone has ever bought computers with them?

MemberIf you wish to support this site then I invite you to click through from links posted here. Voucher code and cash back sites seem to get all the attention which means ‘content’ sites like this find it harder to pay for themselves. It’s annoying because those guys rake in the cash for setting up some automated feeds whilst genuine enthusiasts struggle to keep their sites going!
Up to you of course, I don’t blame anyone for using cash back sites – every little helps these days :D! There is some more info here.

MemberHi Jez, not sure if the last comment was for me but yes I do want to support your site but I don’t quite get the voucher issue. If I order with Dixons with the voucher code, will you get your commission?
1 day and a half to buy…Do yu have any idea if the NC10 might be reduced a bit more when NC20 comes out this month?
I posted your site link on moneysavingexperts a few days back btw 🙂

MemberThanks Mymy :)! Yep all you have to do is ensure the “last click” comes from one of the links such as this one -> Dixons. The Feb2 code is one that is applicable to any members of the affiliate scheme so it will still count! But you would be right in thinking some codes are specific to certain sites and will always be tied to them.
I was responding to your post, yep, but it’s also a bit of a cheeky general moan – I tend to save the moaning for the a4u forums where people discuss this kinda of web monitisation stuff. So sorry about that. I do intend to lay off that kind of post and just let the site work naturally. See how it goes :). Trying to over commercialise the site could well end up as a shot in the foot anyway!
Price direction? I have no more info than anyone else but I think the bigger pressure will be from new releases from competition. Both Asus and Acer have new 10″ machines about to launch which are very similar to the NC10. I think people will end up making their choice based on marketing, image and of course… price!
I don’t think the NC20 is really an “upgrade” so that on its own won’t drive down sales of the NC10.

MemberNot at all worried by what you think is moaning :). It’s your job as a moderator to remind people like me to behave :). Thanks for taking the time to explain everything Jez…
I just saw the new Acer and it looks so similar to NC10 but with 3G and a promise of 7 hours battery life. Saw a price of $399. Arrrghghghghghgh, I hate to feel this confused on what to do!!

MemberMy mind is now made up, ordered NC10 with Dixons woohoo, can’t wait to receive it!!!
February 5, 2009 at 4:23 pm #182443jez
Memberhehe I just read the first of your last posts on RSS and was going to say that the decision is indeed getting tough as the suppliers are releasing some good machines and I don’t think there is a clear winner anymore.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with an NC10 so good choice. But to be fair I think people won’t be too disappointed with the new EEEs, Aspires, etc either!
I think choice will come down to personal taste and the quality of the community forums. So the NC10 wins ;)!

MemberHehe the luck of the draw! Am happy with ordering the NC10. In any case, I know where you work 🙂
I will take a look on the other threads as to what and how to install more memory and applications.
Thanks for your help!
