MemberHi all,
This is more of a thread aimed at school-goers and students at college, university and the equivalent for those not in the UK.
How many of you are there out there that are students and use/will use your Netbook for school?
I’m in year 11 and will find it helpful being able to use it at break, lunch and after school to connect to the school server to do some work. (Just got to wait until Christmas to get the darn thing!)
What other uses do you have for it?

MemberI use my NC10 in lectures, it’s small and light enough to carry around all day without noticing it.
Plus the excellent battery life means I don’t usually need to carry an AC adaptor.
Excellent on the train / plane especially for watching videos.

MemberSame here, I’m a university student and although I have another laptop it’s too heavy to carry around and the battery life is just about 2 hours, that’s why I got the NC10 🙂

MemberI’m a writer and a student. I intend to buy an NC10 for taking notes during lecture and writing pieces at the local coffee shop –pretty much living the good life.

MemberI’m a student as well and my 15.4″ Lenovo just weights too much with the ac adapter and all to carry around every day. I’m still going to be taking it with me when I need the bigger screen and more power but normally NC10 is far preferable. I however also have to wait until Christmas, I even wrapped it myself. Only few days now!

MemberJust got mine, set it up and ready to go. I am a student aswell and think it will be immensely useful. Small and lightweight, but best of all, mazing battery life :). The battery came precharged and I have been using it for a variety of activities for most of the day now, still says 1 hour 40 mins (30%) remaining

MemberAt leeds uni, and i have to walk a good 30minutes to get to my uni, i also do a lot of writing as i am a history student i have used this and the 1000h to take to all my lectures and i do most of my work with it because it is so small i can have loads of papers and articles on the desk to refer to without having to move things around too much. It is a great little laptop for education.

MemberSnap on the History student…joint major though so I’m also in English.
Got this right before my mass amount of deadlines were due in (About 9 assignments over 3 weeks) and used my NC10 for all my assignments.. Felt weird when I sent the files over to a regular college pc to print them off, the screen was just too big… I guess size does matter after all and smaller is better 😛

MemberI’ll flip the situation on you: I’m a uni professor and for the last few weeks of Fall quarter I used my Sammy with a digital multimedia projector to lecture to 20 students; in Winter quarter I’ll do the same for 100 students. It may have a 10 inch screen but the graphics card supports higher resolution output on media projectors. I also take it to faculty and committee meetings to read agendas and take notes, as well as to conferences. I love it for just what it is, a small, light, inexpensive and easy netbook.

MemberI plan to use one as my primary PC when going to uni, I hope it’s up to the task and reliable online!

MemberHey Guys, I am student that uses my new NC-10 during lectures (much to the envy of my fellow classmates). I use an excellent program from the MS Office 207 suite called OneNote. It allows me to import all of the Powerpoint slides and add notes to them throughout the lecture. It also allows me to record the lecture using the built-in NC-10 mic. I only have small lecture groups (<30 people) and the quality is fine, although I would recommend replaying the lecture through headphones as the speakers don't do the mic justice. Another neat feature of OneNote is that when I add notes to the slides, it automatically creates little tags in the recording. This means that when I click on the different notes I've made, it takes me to the relevant area of the recording. I highly recommend students try this program as it's available on a free 30 day trial with MS, and is included in the student edition of the Office suite.
Gaz.

MemberBit too old for this thread lol, but I thought I’d just say I wish I had had one of these at Uni. I used to have to take my desktop along each term – including a big old CRT monitor. One of these would be fantastic to keep online and type up essays in Word etc.
