MemberI have been tweaking and adding to my N210 recently. It had 2Gb ram fitted the day it arrived and has been running initially Win7 then Ubuntu for most of its life. Recently I added a solid state drive and its now running Chromium OS. Then I decided to replace the keyboard just to freshen it up.
In windows there was an app to force a higher resolution when needed. In Ubuntu I wrote a script to do the same thing but in Chrome there is no way to achieve the same effect. Hence my latest tweak is to replace the rather limited 1024 x 600 screen with a nice high def WXGD 1366 x 768. It is not an easy job finding a compatible screen as you will only have the part number for the low res screen that is standard. After some eBay research this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330531088725 appeared to have exactly the spec I wanted and was a very reasonable £45 delivered. So I decided to risk it and ordered one.
It arrived this morning and was a very easy 10 min job to fit. Fired up the netbook and it works perfectly. Recognised without any adjustment of setting. No dead pixels and is a lovey bright display with a nice matte finish. Highly recommended.

MemberI read this with interest, and ordered one with a view to breathing some new life into the dusty Samsung in the cupboard – the standard res was just feeling a bit low and I was tending to use my wife’s shiny new ultrabook when I could get my mitts on it. It just arrived, so I dismantled the screen and offered up the new one. Hmmm, the connector wasn’t right, had I been sent the wrong thing??
Answer – no. I’m a complete idiot, I don’t have an N210 at all, but an NC10. I had in my mind that it was an N210 and it never occurred to me that it wasn’t right.
The NC10 LCD cable appears to be a 30 pin connector, and the replacement screen takes a smaller 40 pin connector. I’ve looked into adapters but it doesn’t look straightforward to me, so rather than risk more outlay with no return, I’m going to pass this on.
So if anyone fancies this for their N210 (check your model!) then drop me a PM, £35 posted.
Thanks
