[moved] installing from usb stick or hdd

hi all, im just about to install my new hdd and need to install windows again, as our little sammys dont have cd drives which is the best way to do this?

but that is for vista, and i dont have a high speed usb stick, but i do have external hdd 250gb so got plenty of space!!
is there a guide that i can use to help me set up to use my external to install the xp cd provided.

Please have a look in the Operating Systems area of the forum as there is already quite alot of discussion out there about doing this.
