miserly
MemberWow! what a fantastic forum. of course it doens’t hurt that we all have the coolest netbook around. It was a painful decision as other netbooks (1000H) were priced almost $100 cheaper, but saw the love here and the reviews on the net and bit the bullet.
Got my Blue Sammy a couple of days ago and am finding my way around it.I’m stateside in sunny California and would probably describe myself as intermediate in my computer knowledge.
So far, love the 2 finger scroll. It took me awhile to figure out that the 2 fingers aren’t supposed to be together for this to work.
2 big questions for me are whether I should do a clean install with Pro and whether to eliminate the backup partition. I really like the idea of a clean install (I know where the machine has been) but it seems like the only thing on there is McAfee and maybe i can just uninstall that.
So, Hi to everyone and their Sammys!

MemberWelcome miserly.
I loathe recovery partitions and preinstalled crapware, so I did a clean install of XP Home as supplied on the Samsung Recovery Disk using an USB boot drive created using WinSetupFromUSB as explained in the following guide:
I reclaimed the 6 GB wasted space from the recovery partition and I have allocated the disk space (all primary partitions) on my drive as follows:
* 50 GB as partition hd 0,0 for WinXP
* 50 GB as partition hd 0,1 for Windows 7
* 3 GB as partition hd 0,2 for linux-swap
* and the remainder (about 46 GB) as partition hd 0,3 for Ubuntu 8.10
Works a treat for me 🙂

MemberWelcome to the forum miserly.
If you didn’t already know, don’t forget to remove McAfee properly using this tool.

Memberi’ve decided to clean install.
question is how many of the samsung software need to be reinstalled? i’ll reinstall all the drivers, but what about batter manager and all of those programs? do they NEED to be installed?
ThanksJanuary 24, 2009 at 6:01 pm #181074adatay92
MemberPersonally I wouldn’t bother with the Samsung Magic Doctor or the Samsung Network Manager.
You’ll need the Easy Display Manager and Magic Keyboard to make all of the FN keys work properly.

[/quote1232821145]Personally I haven’t installed any Samsung software – I reckon I can manage my NC10 using Windows Control Panel.
So far, I haven’t run into any problems.
