MemberHi everyone – first post so please bear with me!
Had my NC10 for around a month now and very pleased with it. Read with interest an earlier thread about utilising the iphone SIM offer of 12 months wifi access for £10. Unlocked my Huawei 160 dongle, purchased my O2 iphone simcard off ebay as recommended but am at a loss as to what to do next?
How do I connect as I just get my Vodafone software initialising and do I have to activate via an O2 phone which i haven’t got?
Any advice on this gratefully received!Rich

MemberRich how did you unlock the dongle? Any links to software / method would
be appreciated if it is allowed. As far as i know you do have to get the universal provider version of the software rather than the provider only version which comes with the dongle.
As for activating – i really don’t know…………

MemberYes you will have to activate the sim with an O2 or unlocked phone, you can buy a seond hand unlocked phonefor e tenner in most towns at the mobile phone/second hand shops! doesnt have to be anything fancy or borrow a frinds unlocked phone for 5 mins.
Niteman is corrrect, uninstall the vodafone connection utility and download and install the O2 connection manager or universal connnection software.

MemberRight – I have managed to sort things out!
The SIM was already activated. I uninstalled the vodafone software(probably not necessary though) and then all I had to do was click on the Mobile Connect icon in Network Connections and I was away! No need to install any O2 software so although the connection is working fine I can’t currently monitor anything.
Next I tried the SIM out in an unlocked phone – an old Sony-Ericcson K750i and that worked as well. I had a message from O2 saying the phone/SIM was being configured and again I was in!
At the moment can’t recommend these SIMs enough – mine was £10.99 already activated so I don’t know if I’ve got a full year out of it. Anyway I’m going to get another one for the phone.
That’s it for now as I’m off to work – catch you later maybe. - AuthorPosts
