MemberCan we have a sticky on how to maximise battery life, I am off on long flight next week and looking to max out battery whilst watching as many movies as possible… so far I have had these inputs..
– Turn off Wifi/Bluetooth
– Use Power Saving on Battery Life
– Save movies to SD Card to prevent HDD use
– Tone down display
– Turn Processor to 800mhzI use VLC but do find this to be a bit stuttery when used on these settings, esp if you fast fwd it sticks on exisiting pic for ages.
Does anyone think that adding 2gb memory would somehow conserve battery life more?
Also with regard to charging, is it best to charge as near as before I go, or night before ok? and would it make a difference to charge for a solid 3 hours?
Thanks

MemberI think it can be a RAM issue becaus if I set my CPU to 800MHz it does run smoothly in VLC. (I have 2GB RAM in my NC10). Testing videoplayback I get 5 hours and 40minutes at 3-bar brightness.

connor25: how about getting a spare battery?

[/quote1228699907]Well I logged 125k skymiles last year so I’ve been on a plane one or twice 😉
Best resource is:
Ususally your ticket/itinerary should tell what equipment you are flying. After that you just look up your airline and equipment and look at the seating map. It will show you where and what type of power outlets the plane will have. susally most planes nowadays either have 110/220 sockets that accept multiple plug types.

MemberLast time i was on a plane there weren’t any plugs around me. (neither on the flight from California to Washington DC nor on the flight from New York City to London) And it was only 3 months ago…

MemberFYI, I ran about five episodes of Lost on the ABC fullscreen video player over WiFi and my NC10 got out just about 4 hours using an external LCD display (my TV). Internal display was off. I haven’t done a movie test using VLC or MPC but I will try that next.
This is using Vista and nothing else was turned off since I used a BT mouse and keyboard., The NC10 was also driving my Z680 Logitech 5.1 speaker system.

MemberIf your NC10 runs out of battery on the flight you could consider watching one of th emovies that are, no doubt, on offer on the plane…there is usually at least one watchable one 😉

MemberMight be a NOOB question, but how do you turn your CPU speed down manually? Please PM me with info if possible.
