Hello, nice forum!
Straight to the point. I noticed that on my NC10 (ordered from Germany) when Synaptics drivers are installed, there is a couple of mm dead horizontal area at lower end of touchpad. Like where horizontal virtual scroll should be. Even if I disable horizontal scrolling and other settings which affect the touch zone, it’s dead. But when I uninstall touchpad drivers, all of the touch zone is in use. I hope I described that clear enough 🙂
So could you try that by moving the cursor slowly from top to bottom, and see if it stops even if your finger is still on the pad.
I tried both drivers from the Synaptics homepage and from Samsung. I hope there’s a solution, because the pad is already small vertically so every mm counts! 🙂
I experience the same. I have no solution though. 🙁
I’ve just tested this and yes, it happens for me too.
Some members here have mentioned installing touchpad drivers meant for other netbooks successfully (one of the eeePC models I believe). I don’t know if that would fix this problem, but it might be worth a shot.
Solotion is here! If you disable the synaptics vertical and horisontal scrolling then the whole pad can be used. There is also a great app for 2 finger scrolling found in this thread:

Unfortunately that didn’t work for me 🙁 I also tested Aspire One drivers with no success. I’m still going to find out which eee model has a synaptics touchpad and try those drivers.
The touchpad on my Sony Vaio is a joy to use. Little Sammy’s is a torture. I have given up and purchased a Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000 which is a perfect size. Comes with a nifty black case. Very easy install.
Well if you have the NC10 I can assure you this works.

I disabled the scrolling and dropped the palm detection and it makes the touchpad like 1000x’s more livable.
