Hey guys, just got my black nc10 from dixons online, managed to get it for £286, arrived a couple of days ago. But im thinking of returning it.
There seems to be a problem with the lid. It seems to scrape on the battery when lifting it open, makes a plastic scraping noise. But not when closing the lid. Its already started putting small scratches on the back of the battery.
Im just wondering if anyone has this problem? is it normal?
not a massive problem but its not something you expect from a brand new top of the range netbook!
thanks 🙂
cant say ive noticed that but i have the white one so scratches wont be as visible but doesent sound good, swap it if you can
hmmmm, just checked mine, it doesn’t do that, any chance of uploading a pic of where the damage is occurring?
Doesn’t happen on my blue one, lid moves around very smoothly and hasn’t left any marks on the battery. I second TheRing and recommend you send it back. If you have a Currys nearby, it may be worth asking if they’ll have a look at it and perhaps even arrange the exchange for you – DSG stores didn’t use to mix, but I think they’re more integrated now.
This does not happen on mine either. You should return it and get a new one.
Make sure the battery is fully locked. The left lock doesn’t have a spring in it so it doesn’t automatically lock. If it isn’t locked it moves around enough where it can scrape the lid when it is opening.
As above, double check battery position and if its ok, but still scratches then take it back to the shop. Sounds like a case of the screen hinges being out of line. I think these might even be adjustable, but it’s a new laptop as you say, and you shouldn’t have to do this!
RichIbizaS what did you decide to do in the end? Was it a problem with the battery or did you return it?
Mine does it, but not all the time. I’m not worried about it as I see no evidence of scratches.
