Samsung may be releasing a variant of the NC10 with a larger touchpad….

MemberAfter translating (HA!) the page, I think those who were guessing they are prototype photos are right, or maybe it’s that I’m hoping they are right!

MemberThat sucks for the rest of us. I want a bigger pad. But I don’t like those tiny buttons on the new one. They just needed to add like 1 cm in height on the regularone. Fill in the space between pad and spacebar.

MemberWell in the mean time you can disable the horizontal and vertical scroll functions and add the “twofingerscroll” application.. which gives you in essence a bigger touch pad

MemberI think the 2 fingerscroll application is terrible. It puts a tray icon, it’s too fast, and it’s not polished. It’s just not the same. Plus, back to the main topic, the touchpad is way too small for 2 finger. IMO

Memberif you fiddle around with it long enough it becomes very handy!

MemberI think its a shame no one followed on from Toshiba & IBM and used tracksticks instead, miles better by far than any of the crap touchpads on any laptop

[/quote1229472818]The default settings are way too fast but you can tweak it to any speed, acceleration setting you wish. After tweaking the speed to 2 and acceleration to 1, I have to say its a fantastic program and now can’t live without it.

Memberyeah I adjusted the speed to 1 and acceleration off and it works awesome…
not sure how the different one two and three finger button settings work maybe someone can explain if i should try using thoseDecember 17, 2008 at 6:02 am #175901rtrip
MemberI prefer the small touchpad with the larger buttons than the larger touchpad with the thin buttons. That was one of the things I hated about my 1000h. First the 1000h buttons make loud clicking noises when depressed (so I couldn’t work from bed) and they were hard to click.

MemberTracksticks? Are they those horrible joystick/nipple things in the middle of the keyboard?
Each to their own, of course, but I much prefer touchpads to them (and the one on my HP laptop kept falling off until I finally lost it completely)….

MemberI personally think the new/prototype design looks great – I am reasonably happy with the current trackpad and two finger scrolling, but I still find the larger trackpad on my old laptop a joy to use in comparison. Can’t see smaller buttons being a problem, as long as it easy to ‘feel’ for them.
I never got used to the nipple on my work thinkpad – surprised anyone prefers it!!

MemberI’ve quickly got use to the tiny tracker pad and find it pretty sensitive even when used in art packages though I’ve also invested in a cordless bluetooth mouse.
I haven’t disabled the scroll bar or gesture functions yet although I do occasionally accidentially zoom in on the text so maybe I should practice how the gestures work.
I like the look of the new tracker pad although not too keen on the buttons so on reflection I’m happy with the NC10 pad.

[/quote1229703312]I’m probably being thick but how do I disable the scroll function please?
Ignore me – I’ve just found the extra settings and turned it off. Now I’m a happy bunny. I just wish there was the right shift key wasn’t so far to the right – it’s the only thing I don’t like about my Sammy so far (now that I’ve turned the scrolling off).
