MemberGot the family a white NC10 for Xmas and everybody loves it. One quirky thing I’ve encountered is a problem when playing back some video podcasts in iTunes. Was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem with their NC10.
Open iTunes, go to Store, Podcasts, Video Podcasts. When I select something to playback it is hit or miss whether it will playback. Rachel Maddow show, no problem – playback starts right away. But with several others (The Soup, Flight of the Conchords), nothing happens when I press play. Navigation seems to get a little laggy in iTunes when trying to play these problem titles, but it doesn’t lock up. I just can’t get the video to start playing.
I have 6Mb service, so bandwidth isn’t a problem. Seems to be title specific. Any feedback from others viewing iTunes video podcasts would be appreciated. FYI – I have the latest version of iTunes installed – 8.0.2.20 – and the NC10 is vanilla.

MemberThat’s odd. I have had no problems playing itunes video of any kind on my computer but others have. I do have 2gb of memory so not sure if that takes care of any issues

MemberInteresting – I have a similar problem with the same setup (1gb). Video playback on podcasts is usually slow and choppy, but the videos play back fine on the Ipod Nano. Occasionally I get a video which plays perfectly smooth on the NC10, but most have been slow and choppy.
Have not found a solution to this yet.

MemberOk… a little more investigation on my part and this does not appear to be a problem specific to the NC10 or amount of RAM.
I tried viewing the ‘bad’ video podcast titles on my Gateway desktop PC and they exhibited the same problem – when clicking play in iTunes, nothing happens. The ‘good’ titles play just fine on both the Gateway and the NC10.
So this appears to be an iTunes issue of some sort that I’ll have to look into.

MemberI had sort of forgotten about this problem, but tried again today to fix Itunes playback of some podcasts going slow. For me, I changed the following settings.
Edit – Preferences – Playback Tab
Changed to Play movies and TV shows – In a separate Window.
Changed to Play Music Videos – In a separate Window.Suddenly, very nice smooth playback of all my podcasts that would play jerky before.
Hope this helps someone else.
