I have a charger for my MP3 player that charges it and runs on batteries. I imagine the charge needed for a laptop would preclude such a device, but i saw this Ted Baker mobile charger that apparently charges anything. Is there something like that out there that would charge the laptop when you don’t have access to a mains supply?
Thanks

These are the boxes with batteries inside and booster cables to jump start your car.
They have 18ah batteries inside and with almost any small inverter you can plug the Sammy power supply in directly.I have not used this with a Sammy yet but I have charged Macbooks and Panasonic Toughbooks without problems.
When our power goes out I use one to keep me online and it powers my Cable Modem and Router too.

February 1, 2009 at 11:06 pm #182114avserviceMemberWell there are a few companies that make portable laptop power packs for just this purpose.
APC is one of them.http://www.engadget.com/2006/06/12/apcs-mobile-power-pack-delivers-juice-via-usb/
I have seen them in several sizes too.

Sammy is about 5 W.hours, this batter is twice that so if sammy can be powered through the usb and the voltage is right, this could work.
February 2, 2009 at 5:33 pm #182110newstMemberI doubt the Sammy can be charged via the USB port but there are a number of external battery solutions available that will charge it via the DC connector. Just go to Google and search for ‘external laptop battery’.

February 3, 2009 at 6:02 pm #182118Don_AudioMemberI would prefer a extra 6 or 9 cell BC10 Battery over any 3rd party power pack simply because these 3rd party stuff wont help you at all once your main battery fails.
2 Batteries = Half the wear if you swap them every now and then

[/quote1233837995]Actually that is not correct. The external battery feeds through the DC in port and the laptop reads it as if it were input from your AC converter. You can pull the laptop battery and still use the external power-pack.
