MemberI was just looking at some upcoming releases for the PC in 2009 and it’s looking like a good year for the PC format! Looks like the PC is getting most of the next-gen releases and a few more PC-specific titles….If they sort out the DRM mess that’s been going on recently I think people may be tempted away from Xbox and PS3. Some games scheduled for PC in 2009:
F.E.A.R. 2
Dawn Of War 2
Sims 3
Street Fighter 4
Tom Clancys HAWX
Empire Total War
Starcraft 2
Resident Evil 5
Wolfenstein
Diablo IIIAnd plenty more…..(including Duke Forever but don’t hold your breath!)
What does everybody else think?

MemberI bought a copy of PC Gamer/Zone this month for the first time in years! They had a nice preview of upcoming games and there were definitely a few blockbusters in there.
Like you say, they need to get a grip on DRM. But I also support the need for getting piracy under control too. Perhaps the new free to play model could be another big win for the PC gaming industry. There are a few examples on the way – Quake Live, BF Heroes and a couple of others were mentioned too!
On that note, I might fire up COD5 and bag me some frags!

MemberCOD5 is amazing – love it!! Cant wait for some of the new games to come out – same as everyone else is thinking though – DRM needs to be addressed promptly, its loosing millions of sales. In Micro Mart magazine this month they were saying something like Spore was downloaded 1 million times within the first 10 days!

MemberYou probably won’t see me for dust when F.E.A.R 2 and Sims 3 come out, I’ve been looking forward to those for months lol. 😀

[/quote1232735284]I believe DRM is having a good try at killing it off….!
But PC gaming will prevail!

MemberI love playing PC games. Some games just weren’t meant for the console though; RTS games for instance e.g. C&C, Sim City etc. How these types of games can be developed for a console is inconceivable in my opinion. The basic premise of the game is to build a base, units and defeat your enemy, all with the help of a little arrow to help you move around the map and select the available options. This is easy with a mouse, but near impossible using a joypad.
PC gaming will be here forever; or at least as long as console gaming.
