I have a really bad karma, so the way that things turn around for me caused my nc10 to fall off of the desk today causing the screen to break. Is it worth repairing or is it gonna cost about the price of a new one?
February 25, 2009 at 6:21 pm #185000Don_AudioMemberDid you dropped it while it was running?
Considering that some other stuff like the HDD might be damaged i would sell the unit as broken on ebay.
February 25, 2009 at 6:28 pm #185002RudjMemberno the machine works fine, i am using it to write these posts, i just have the liquid crystals all messed up in the left part of the screen…
If i buy a broken unit instad can i change the screen myself?February 25, 2009 at 6:41 pm #184997summertanMemberYou have to ask Samsung about the cost of repair. It may be cheaper if you buy new screen and repair it yourself.

February 25, 2009 at 6:58 pm #185003RudjMemberI found replacement screend for prices going from 130$ to 195 max. Samsung is certainly going to be way more expensive and probably are going to have a much longer wait to have it returned….
It might not be that hard to replace, i’ll give it a shot…
I saw googling that some people already had the same problem, i was wondering if anyone had solved it and how…
Thanks for the help so far.February 26, 2009 at 9:11 am #184996kirkukMemberHouse insurance ?
Have claimed on mine in past for two broken Pc’s and got them repaired/replaced with no increase on my premium.

It may not affect the premium from the same company, but could increase the quotes from others in future. But that’s what insurance is for and the cost of the NC10 is bound to be higher than any possible premium increase. Many policies will have a clause limiting the cost of the individual items claimed for, but I expect that would be much higher than the cost of the NC10.

February 26, 2009 at 5:58 pm #185004RudjMemberI know I have house insurance because it once came up when i ran over an old lady with my bike. But i doubt it covers electric appliance. I’m from italy and when it comes down to these sorts of matters we are no better than any random 3rd world country…Insurances here take aaaages to pay up.
I’ve decided i’ll repair it coz it seems like spare parts are cheaper than a new one, the only bg issue at the moment is finding the replacement lcd…
Thanks a lot for the suggestions. -
