MemberHi,
Have been reading this forum & thought I’d contribute to the NC10 scene.
I have just bought (from PC World of all places via reserve & collect) the Logitech VX Nano laser mouse, it has a tiny usb receiver which is ideal for a netbook & comes with a slipcase for a reasonable £29.99.
Admin Edit: Shrunk the link!
And we now have a NC10 mouse page based on some of the suggestions from this thread!November 30, 2008 at 7:30 pm #172840adatay92
MemberThe VX Nano is a very good mouse and very reliable in my experience.
£29.99 imo is a very good price as well, very good from PC world.

MemberThat’s the mouse I should have by tomorrow. It looks good, has a nice micro USB receiver and, what I didn’t realise, comes with a slipcase.

Memberi wouldnt say this is ideal at all, since you lose a usb port that you wouldn’t with a bluetooth based mouse. if it were bluetooth based i would agree though.

MemberThis is one of the mice that I’m considering switching to if I have to return the Microsoft one. I do have a couple of concerns about it though. One is the small size – reviews seem to be imply it’s just a bit too small – and the other is that the scroll wheel can’t be used as a middle button. I use the latter function constantly while I’m browsing to open background tabs.
The other mouse I’m considering is it’s older cousin, the VX Revolution. It’s larger and allows usage of the scroll wheel as a middle button, but it doesn’t have that lovely nano dongle.
Good price you got it for, it’s only just come down from £39.99

[/quote1228564587]I am looking at the nano and have seen reviews which mention the scroll wheel problem you mention. What do you mean by using it as a middle button?

MemberUsually when you click the wheel on a mouse it functions as a third programmable button. By default, this opens links in background tabs or windows when browsing and is something I use all the time.
The Nano is one of the few mice that doesn’t let you do this. When you click the wheel, it switches between free scrolling and ratchet mode and and you can’t reassign it to anything else, even with the supplied Logitech software. There is a button directly behind the scroll wheel that can be assigned for this purpose, but it doesn’t feel as natural a movement as simply clicking the wheel.
I ended up with the VX Revolution as I decided I really needed that function.

MemberI got a VX nano on Wednesday and it is the best mouse I have used. The free wheel takes a bit of getting used to, but if you don’t like it you can always go back to the ‘clicky’ wheel:)

[/quote1228597065]My only beef with that mouse is the color. Does it really look that bright in person?

[/quote1228606154]I’ve seen it in person and it is not at all as bright as the ad photos. It looks like this, a dark blue. Can’t tell you if it matches the blue NC10 though…

[/quote1228607807]If that is how it actually looks it would actually be a pretty close match to the NC10 I think.

MemberIt’s not bright at all – I love it. The perfect size for comfort and carry. They also make a white one that is labeled as a Mac mouse, but they’re the same mouse.
