The mouse didn’t come with any instructions and I don’t know how to get the mouse to connect to my NC10. My husband is out of town, so…. HELP Please! 🙂
I installed the batteries (didn’t come with the mouse) and I see two buttons at the bottom. One is the on/off switch. Not sure what the other one does. Also when on, the battery indicator flashes between red and green.
Thanks,
Monica

I’m assuming you went to My Computer>My Bluetooth Places>Add a Bliuetooth Device and your sammy didn’t find your new mouse?
March 4, 2009 at 3:24 am #185350mjpileggiMembercorrect, I went to the BT on my computer and everything is set properly. Batteries are new.
March 4, 2009 at 7:30 am #185375JOrkney95MemberHi,
I got this mouse a couple weeks ago. It was pretty easy to set up and works great.
Did you get a refurb or an open box mouse? I am asking only because mine came with the batteries and instructions.
Here are the instructions:
1) Insert the two AAA batteries. (Obvious, I know! 🙂 )
2) Make sure the mouse is turned on. The switch is on the bottom on the left side, and ON is when the switch is pushed to the left.
3) To make the mouse discoverable by the comptuer, press and hold the connect button (the button on the bottom, on the right side) until the light on the top of the mouse flashes red and green.
4) Make sure that if your computer has a wireless switch, that it’s turned on. (Don’t think that applies to Sammys.)
5) Open the Bluetooth software (doubleclick the Bluetooth icon) and run the wizard to add a Bluetooth device. (My Sammy found my mouse, I clicked on the mouse in the Bluetooth window, and that was it.)
6) If you are prompted for a passkey (I wasn’t), enter “0000” (for added security), or choose no passkey. The mouse will not work with any other passkey.Good luck!
March 4, 2009 at 12:22 pm #185351mjpileggiMemberI double clicked on the “add a bluetooth device” and got “No local bluetooth device was detected.”
In the “view or modify configuration” for the Bluetooth Tasks, the “Let other BT devices discover this compute” is checked; and under “diagnostics” it shows the BT as Active under the status. I do se the device status is stopped. It says to start the device in the Window system tray. What is the system tray?
It didn’t come in a box, just a sealed plastic bag. Nothing else. I didn’t think I was buying a refub product.
Not sure what else I need to do.
March 4, 2009 at 4:01 pm #185349ParodyMemberThe system tray is the area in the Taskbar with the clock and the collection of icons. One of them should look like the Bluetooth logo. (An angled B in a blue oval.) You may have to push the arrow button to show all of the icons.
When you right-click that icon, it will say either “Start Using Bluetooth”, which gives you a wizard to step through, or it’ll give you a full menu. The bottom item in the menu turns Bluetooth on and off. (“Start/Stop the Bluetooth device”.)
Hope this helps.
March 4, 2009 at 4:57 pm #185352mjpileggiMemberWell, I just looked at the system tray and there is not B logo. Is there a place that I can add it?
March 4, 2009 at 9:13 pm #185373Dr. ZoidbergMemberr-click the taskbar>properties>customize (on lower right)
look for the bluetooth icon on the list and if its status is “always hide” then click on this option and select one of the other options.
If not on list then possibly the bluetooth on your sammy is not activated?

[/quote1236201679]I’ll check when I get home. If it’s not activated, how do I activate it? Same customize area?
Thanks!

March 4, 2009 at 10:16 pm #185354mjpileggiMemberOkay, I’m home. I’m in the customize section and it was listed as “hide when inactive” so I changed it to “always show.”
In the Bluetooth configuration in the control panel, it shows as “Active” for status and USB for “type.” Also, it does mention to start the device…system. Again, there is no BT icon in the system tray.
Thanks,
Monica
March 5, 2009 at 11:42 pm #185355mjpileggiMemberWell, I’m back. I was finally able to add the BT icon to the system tray. I am still not able to use the BT mouse. I clicked on the BT icon in the tray and then ADD and went from there. However, it searches for the mouse without luck.
Any suggestions of the next step?
Thank you!

March 6, 2009 at 3:21 am #185374Dr. ZoidbergMemberDo you have any other BT devices to test the BT connection on the sammy? One of two things are malfunctioning, the sammy or the mouse (or I guess both). If you don’t have another BT device, goto your local pc shop and see if they have a BT mouse or phone and whether your sammy can detect it. Or buy a new BT mouse, test it out and if your sammy doesn’t detect it, we know its probably the sammy and I guess we can go from there. If your sammy does detect it, then chances are your mouse is faulty.
March 6, 2009 at 12:22 pm #185356mjpileggiMemberThanks for your comments. No, I don’t have any other BT devices. I brought my sammy in to work and will ask my IT person to take a look at it. He might have a BT device. My husband thought maybe I needed to reload the software???
I’ll let you know how it goes.

March 6, 2009 at 3:44 pm #185369Jonny BlondMemberyou are pressing the connect button on the mouse before trying to search for it arn’t you?
switch the mouse on then press the connect buton till the led flashes. then search. also make sure the mouse is a foot or so away from the laptop, as too close it wont work.
March 6, 2009 at 6:15 pm #185357mjpileggiMemberJonny, yes I am. I turn it on, press the button and I do see it flashing between red and green.
I didn’t do the “foot or so away” so I’ll give it a shot. If this works, will I be able to move the mouse closer to the laptop?
Thanks!
Monica
