I can’t help it.
I really, really like almost everything about Windows 7. I like the performance, the pretty interface, the battery life, everything so far.
Anyone else feel as strongly for it as I do?
January 28, 2009 at 8:44 pm #181681Billy RubinMemberI couldn’t agree more, it’s on my NC10 and my Toshiba laptop. Rock solid so far and not a hint of a problem, I think M$ should release it as soon as possible.
January 28, 2009 at 10:04 pm #181674TCMuffinMemberI agree.
Although I still have XP (just in case) and Ubuntu 8.10 (out of interest) installed on my Sammy I use Win7 as my day-to-day OS and I love it !lol
January 28, 2009 at 10:45 pm #181687Camo YoshiMemberI’m sticking with WinXP until they don’t have support for it anymore, then I’ll get 7.
(BTW, support for WinXP won’t end until March 2015)
January 29, 2009 at 3:39 am #181677berflesMemberIs it actually as smooth performing on the NC10 as XP? I really got used to Vista on my desktop and 7 seems similar to Vista without the bad performance (not that it runs badly on my beast of a PC 🙂 )
January 29, 2009 at 10:14 am #181675TCMuffinMemberYes, berfles, it runs really well – equally as good as XP and maybe a little better 🙂
I use Vista on my Dell XPS laptop and actually I prefer Vista to XP, so I’m happy to use 7 as my main OS on my Sammy.
January 29, 2009 at 2:14 pm #181679avserviceMemberI have 7 running on an IBM X30 that is not even up to the basic requirements listed for the 7 install and I am really happy with it so far.
I had trouble getting windows to see it as a portable computer and getting the power management working but now it is great.I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop when it is at last released, can not wait to know what they will charge for this one?
January 29, 2009 at 4:51 pm #181682Billy RubinMemberWhatever they’ve done under the hood on Win 7 it certainly runs much better than Vista. My Toshiba laptop came with Vista but to make it usable I had to get rid of Aero and all the fancy bells and whistles, Win 7 runs just fine. The same applies to the NC10, Win 7 feels faster than XP SP3 to me.
January 30, 2009 at 4:03 am #181678berflesMemberI just installed it. Initial thoughts: Don’t feel like getting it running smoothly right now. The trackpad is all wonky (barely moves left or right but flies up and down) Firefox wouldn’t even install if I tried selecting “Install under current user” (Other choice was admin, but I didn’t set a password and it wouldn’t accept a blank one) and a few other issues.
Any tips for that stuff?
EDIT: Got Firefox going after a reboot. Just need tips for the trackpad (movement and the scrolling), and I guess I have to install all the extra features like the function keys and whatnot right?
Ok I think I got most of the things working now.
January 30, 2009 at 9:38 am #181683Billy RubinMemberHave you downloaded the trackpad drivers?
http://drivers.synaptics.com/Synaptics_Driver_v10_1_8_Vista32.exeJanuary 30, 2009 at 10:40 am #181672RsaeireMemberI’ve downloaded the Windows 7 beta made available to the public recently, but have yet to install it on any of my computers. From what I have seen and read, Windows 7 is what Vista should have been; and most likely would have been had Microsoft held off on releasing Vista at the start of 2007.
February 2, 2009 at 11:50 am #181680alswegenMemberI agree with everybody. FInally a worthy OS for the XXI century. Much better than XP, Ubuntu, OSX and of course, Vista.
Im like a simian amazed by this nc10 machine running this fancy OS, I cant stop pressing buttons and running my finger through the taskbar and watching all those shiny effects. It looks as if it’s made to work on touchscreen computers.
Everything runs as smoothly or more as in XP, no problems so far, not missing anything. Im gonna cry if it expires someday.
February 2, 2009 at 7:39 pm #181692econ0013MemberHi
I am considering putting windows seven on my laptop. please can those who have already done so tell me/us what thye use for drivers? all the vista ones?
would it be possible to have a windows seven drivers thread like there is for XP i.e. a list of what they are and where to get them (and what works and doesnt).
tFebruary 2, 2009 at 8:11 pm #181690TruneMemberread the first page of the thread in this forum and it tells you what you’ll need…
February 3, 2009 at 4:41 am #181684bklynwriterMemberI’m digging windows 7, and use it on a day-to-day basis. Can’t wait until the release is official.
