According to Dabs, you can pre-order it now – for the hefty price of £441.99!
The addition of HSDPA appears to be the only difference in this model.
erm, excuse my ignorance but what is HDSPA ?
High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (mobile broadband) more or less.
Apologies for the confusion, I’ve just edited the topic title to mention 3g. I’m not too up on the mobile technology myself. 🙂
Bit of a premium though.
Hmmm O2 are doing USB Modems for £29.35 on PAYG basis. May have to ask them if thats a rolling 24 hrs or 24 hrs from when you first connect.
Be ideal for occasional mobile access for those occasions when there’s no MaccyDs available 🙂
The dongle route also allows for use with other devices you have at home. Not a big draw for everyone but I actually like that flexibility. I will be buying one in the New Year. At least with the PayG type deals you aren’t committed if you don’t get good reception in your area or decide to buy a device with 3G later…
Far too expensive, but I do like the idea of having it inbuilt. I can just see one of those dongle things getting snapped off accidentally, especially on the train (be OK of you had an elbow shaped USB adapter, then it’d stick up instead of out). But I do have questions about the efficiency of the antennae of the dongle class devices. With an inbuilt device you could site a bigger antenna in the NC10’s case and perhaps get better reception.
There are a few pics here of the German model. It looks like the SIM card for the 3g slots in behind the battery.
This would be why they left off the Mini PCI-E slot then 🙂
Also it may be a little slower due to BT max throughput but BT tethered to HSDPA phone does the job, heh even the semi-crap 3 skypephone which is available for about 35 quid now is a decent option as a modem. Nothing to annoy you/break/otherwise be a bit crap.
Continuing on from a new thread started today by member deadkenny, I notice this has already come down £23 since I originally posted about it. Hopefully the price will continue to drop before release and this will be a more attractive option for users.
