Tagged: cloning, n130, recovery partition
I think i’ve had a partial head crash (it was dropped) on an N130. I did a recovery and it seems the recovery is partition is good, which is what you’d expect. I whipped out the drive and put it in a desktop with a new drive. I’m plan to create a new recovery partition and clone the old one.
It’s reported as a EISA drive in winxp disk management. Whats the best way of cloning it.
Thanks.
Bob.
Scope Creep,
I’m a big believer of Clonezilla. I use a external CD Drive but it will work with a USB flash drive as well. What I have done is get a new external hard drive and clone that partition over to the new drive then swap the drive into the computer. Locally, some stores have the external drives on sale and I have bought them cheaper than buying the replacement drive outright from the local computer store.
Clonezilla will do a partition or the full drive, Your option. For what it’s worth, I got a 320 Gig Seagate USB external for just under $60 USD, it is a SATA laptop drive.
I’m sure others will have other options that are pretty valid, take your time and pick the one thats best for you! 😉 JohnP
I’ve used Ghost to clone the partition to an image then copy that image off for future use.
Even better if you do this before you ever boot the machine so you can get the universal image.
