I tried some DIY’s from the internet, but none of them worked. I have a broken installation in my boot menu and don’t get it out of there….
Can anyone help?
When I try to install XP from USB with one of the DIY`s from there

I only get into GRUB and then nothing happens… 🙁
Just in case….
Did you try the builtin recovery of the NC10 by pressing F4 during startup?
Its described in the appendix of the user manual.
Then you wouldn’t need the USB solution.
it doesn’t work. Thanx to the guy who bought the book before. He had Ubuntu running on that thing and to delete his Data, he completely formatted the disk. Have now XP running and partitioned it to 100 and 49GB, but I can’t set up the built in Recovery from the CD…
If you have a Windows XP License and a CD handy (or you could download an .iso if you’ve got a valid license but don’t ask me about the legality of this, and good luck trying to find one that isn’t cracked on the tubes!) you can use this utility called WinToFlash – it’s a free Windows-based utility to copy a Windows install image to a USB drive:

And if the previous owner formatted the disk entirely, he probably either wiped the recovery drive and used it for his Ubuntu partition, or messed up the MBR of the recovery partition, which could easily be fixed if you use GRUB, but I’m not sure how to implement this into the BIOS loading screen or WinXP bootloader.
