MemberHave had loads of hassle trying to get FM08 and 09 to run. I have seen a few suggestions of how to get small screen to run but the only one that worked on both 08 and 09 was this:
1. Right click on the desktop shortcut after install and select properties.
2. Paste the following into the target box. “C:Program FilesSports InteractiveFootball Manager 2009fm.exe” -windowed -small_screen
or add -windowed -small_screen on the end of the existing target. Leave a space after the fm.exe” and -windowed.
3. There must be spaces between fm.exe” and -windowed and between -windowed and -small_screen
(There is no ” after -small screen)I have tried inserting -small_ screen -windowed” and this does not work for me.
FM 09 seems to run fine as long as you don’t select preferences as this causes it to crash. It loads matches quickly and does not seem to need the disc after loading up the game.
Delighted I can now finally play FM on my NC10.

MemberRuns fine you say, does this mean it copes with the 3D match engine ok? Does it take a while to load the database?

MemberNo 3D engine but apart from that works well. Better than 08 despite bad reviews. Activation issues have gone.

Memberdid you have any errors during the loading phase such as ‘fm encountered an error and needs to close’? I had updated the drivers and made the small screen adjustment but could not pass the error. I am able to run fm 08 without any problems though. Any help would be highly appreciated.

MemberI did get the same error when I had -small_screen – windowed entered in target. When I added -windowed – small_screen to target had no problem at all. Make sure there is a space before – windowed and between -windowed and -small_screen. There should be no ” at the end of -windowed -small_screen. I have not upgraded RAM or drivers. I’m sorry if that is no help. Once installed no disc is required again which is good. I avoided using steam to activate/register game and used the other option that the game gives to activate/register online when installing. Can’t remember how it was described. Not sure if that could make a difference.

MemberI did get it to work with the small screen trick 🙂 Thanks billboy80 for that! However the 3d is working but not really flowing well and when I try to enter the preferences menu to make it full screen (since I am connecting the netbook to a large display lcd), the game crashes. Any tips to overcome these problems??

MemberIs there any problems with regards to fitting all the info on the screen when running the -windowed command? In the past when ive played FM on my desktop pc and have used this command there have been certain sections of the screen which I was unable to see.
If I could get this game to run perfectly on the NC10 I would be over the moon 🙂

Memberi have been following this post and first of all would like to thank billy for his efforts! I have got the game running, altered the window to be almost full screen, put my taskbar on hide and then… well, it just seems to run really really slow. I copied a saved game across from an old comp, nothing big, just Boston in the Blue Square Premier. However i am now wondering if i need to check that the 3D is disabled or something? do i? Is there anything i can do to make it run faster? I have no other programs running at the time. See you in the premiership!

MemberHi Embark,
Were you able to arrange the 3d so that the 3d game runs smoothly in during the games?
