I find myself using this little netbook more and it is close to replacing my desktop! As a result, I took my battery down to 40% and stuck in in my refrigerator wrapped in a brown plastic bad to help prevent damage from moisture. As I understand it, I should take it out of the fridge every month, let it warm in room temp for 24 hours then charge it to full and use it to empty. Then let it go back to 40% and remove to place back into the fridge for 30 days etc….
MY worry is the little brass tabs on the back of my netbook where the battery normally plugged in. I wonder if there is a way to cover these tabs to protect them?December 9, 2008 at 10:10 pm #174504adatay92MemberI tend to leave my battery connected to my NC10… does a wonderful job of protecting those little brass tabs.
December 9, 2008 at 10:15 pm #174507lucynethelMemberIf I use it every single day for hours on end and run it till it runs out, then charge while STILL using it, unplug it at full and start draining it all over again & again & again….isn’t that harder on the battery than storing it? I rarely leave my Lazyboy Recliner with this thing sitting on me and heard for extended use at home to remove & store it????

I’ve had my NC10 now for over a month, still no more battery-drain than in the beginning and I always run on battery, when it’s getting low I charge it overnight.
I do not charge it while using it, that would probably not be a good idea.December 9, 2008 at 10:23 pm #174512vibe666Memberwould it be harsh to tell you to get out more?
seriously, what’s the point in having an ultraportable laptop/netbook if you’re going to chain it to a power outlet?
esp. if you’re using it a lot, get yourself a decent full sized laptop and a nice ergonomic lap rest and be done with it, you won’t know your comfort.

[/quote1228868441]Not harsh BUT…Recovering from 2 major neurosurgery’s to repair 4 bullet & shrapnel wounds (USMC Combat). And I DO have my wife’s 15.5 inch High End HP Laptop but the thing hurts my legs from weight even using an Ito-pad. This little Devil is the only one that gives me NO pain! And just big enough to stay on it most the day while watching my Big Screen TV at the same time to see the world spiraling downhill….And when ALL else fails, I play with my new PS3 so I can kill something that can’t kill me back for a change! 🙂

Have you seen this thread:
I’ve too wondered about how to cover the tab thingy. Maybe a small piece of polystyrene foam would work?
December 10, 2008 at 9:32 pm #174510lucynethelMemberThank you and yes I saw that site. THEY are the ones who got me all “twitchy”….And it hurts when I twitch! Think I will put mine in the fridge. Got to go that way for my darn beer anyway. :0->
