MemberI would like to know how to disable or delete the Bluetooth device. I don’t need it currently and doubt I will in the future. I always like to save resources and have my computer running as basic as possible, so I’d like to know if there is any way to disable the Bluetooth. The icon keeps appearing on the system tray–don’t know how to delete it. Also, there is a Bluetooth on the desktop and when I right click there is no option to delete it.
Can someone please tell me how you removed or disabled this from running?
Thank you very much.

MemberIn the Device Manager, you will see a listing for Bluetooth devices. Click on the item to expand it. The second item should say Broadcom 2045…. Right click on the device and select disable. This will turn off the Bluetooth.
To remove it from your task tray, open File Explorer and look for All Users in the Documents and Settings folder. Drill down in the folders as follows in the All Users Folder: Start Menu/Programs/Startup. Remover the Bluetooth shortcut from the folder and it should no longer appear in your task tray.

[/quote1230012992]I found two items under Bluetooth in the Device Manager; one was the Broadcom 2045, which I was able to disable. But there was another item above that named Bluetooth Bus Enumerator and there was no way to disable that. What do I do about that, or can it be left alone without using any resources?
Secondly, I followed the directions above but there was no Blue tooth in the Startup Folder as you described. How do I get the icon off my System tray? Also, how do I get the program off my desktop? Yikes…this Bluetooth is everywhere!! LOL

MemberYou can leave the second entry alone in Device Manager, as I believe that it cannot be disabled. And, I do not believe that it wil take up any resources. If a shortcut to Bluetooth was not found in the All Users’ startup folder, I would do a search in file Explorer to see if a shortcut exists in another startup folder. If you find another shortcut, you can most likely delete it, and that should remove it from your task bar. I am not certain as to how to remove the icon from the desktop. It is not a “normal” shortcut, so I do not know if it can be deleted. Perhaps somebody else mihgt be able to offer some advice on that issue.

I have a perfect solution for you 🙂 I have a German NC10 that has no BT at all!!! This is exactly what you need! We could change if you have a white one 🙂

MemberLOL…yeah, I’ve got a white one, but after all the work and effort put into it to get it customized just right, I think I’ll keep it and just live the with the Bluetooth icons. Who knows, I may need it for a bluetooth device in the future. Sorry you don’t have a bluetooth NC10 in Germany. Maybe you should buy it from a US seller??

MemberI guess I replied to the wrong thread. Start -> Run -> msconfig. From the “startup” tab uncheck bluetooth. If you still have any icons you don’t want laying around TweakUI will take care of that.

MemberAll these solutions seem to be WinXP based. Surely there must a way to disable Bluetooth through the BIOS… I haven’t found it yet though. 🙁

MemberApparently it’s not possible. *sigh*

MemberYou can disable all wireless in the bios ( bluetooth and 802.11) but not just one.
I used this feature when I went over to the USA so I could watch movies on the flight 😀

Are you sure? The Wireless Device Control option in the BIOS does not affect the Bluetooth on my NC10. The Bluetooth is still active and works with it set to Always Off.August 15, 2009 at 5:58 am #177086zumlin
Membertry uninstalling the bluetooth driver from device manager first, and then disable “Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller – 27C9” under “Universal Serial Bus controllers”
