Memberhave noticed that mine moves rather easily. not ridiculously so, but when i pick up the nc10, if the screen is not opened all the way, the inertia of picking it up (from holding the front) makes the screen open to its fullest extent.
sound about normal?

MemberI’ve only had mine a week but the screen doesn’t seem to be as loose as yours.
If I hold the NC-10 by the keyboard vertically, fingers and thumb around the touchpad, hinge at the bottom. the screen needs to at an angle of around 45 degrees before its own weight pulls the screen open

Memberoh that’s about the same then. it’s not flapping around or anything.
just not used to a laptop where the weight of the screen can pull it open like that.

MemberMine is much tighter than that. I put it at a severe angle and picked it up pretty fast and it still did not budge. I actually haft to hold the bottom part of the laptop down when I open it or the whole laptop will come up with the screen.

MemberMine is quite stiff as well, the lid doesn’t move at all unless I clip my bulky-ish external speaker to it.
I think there’s quite a bit of variety with these as several users have mentioned it’s either a bit loose or too tight. If it’s annoyingly loose, then you might want to think about an exchange, but if you’re OK with it then I wouldn’t worry. Seems to be perfectly normal if a little inconsistent in terms of manufacturing (and perhaps a copious supply of WD40 at the factory lol). 🙂

MemberMine is fairly stiff, but a lot less so than my vaio.
I do find when I have it on my lap with the screen tilted back it feels like it wants to tip backwards slightly.

arf arf, I very nearly edited my post when I realised it sounded a bit rude 🙂January 9, 2009 at 11:20 pm #179075mossmotorsport
Memberhaha – my NC10 screen is becomming a little loose now after a couple of weeks. Might have to think about an exchange if it gets any worse… Does anyone know a quick fix to tighten up the hinges?

MemberThere’s no give on my screen at all.

MemberMine is fine too. The best thing about this board that no one will ever post a thread saying: “My rocker button is perfect!”, “My HDD is so silent”, “My screen is sharp like a knife!”. 😀

[/quote1231607665]well if it is closed i have to use two hands too. i guess once it is open at a viewing angle it seems looser. doesn’t move under its own weight if it is just sitting around, but is more likely to move if i pickup the unit while it is on.
i have noticed that the back bottom edge of the screen, where it wraps around the curved part of the battery as you open it, occassionally rubs if i am gripping the screen a certain way. wonder if i’ll have all sorts of scratch marks on the back after a few months.
probably being too precious – will just need to buy a VIA powered one then!

MemberI have had my NC10 for about a week or so and I wish the hinges were a little bit tighter. It hasn’t really gotten to the point where it is a problem, but in terms of preference, I like it stiffer. Has anyone found out how to tighten the hinges?
