To be clear from the start, I am not asking for opinions on which color people like best. All I want to know is how the white matte cover and white keyboard are holding up to everyday use. My blue Sammy went back because of screen blotch issues, and if I purchase another one I am strongly leaning towards a white one, because the glossy blue cover showed every smudge and the black keys were sometimes hard to see in low light conditions.
So, how is your cover holding up? When it has dirt on it is it easy to clean? Same for the white keys. Also, have you been tempted to put an Apple sticker on the cover and tell everyone that it is a prototype direct from Steve Jobs?

I thought this would be a right nightmare when i first got it, but it has turned out to actually be a good purchase. It shows less dust on my white sammy than it does with other things that i own which are coloured black.
January 4, 2009 at 5:11 pm #178462PsychNC10MemberHave had mine about a month and so far so good with heavy use. I was a little worried about it getting dirty, but I think the texture of the case keeps this from happening and is easy to clean
January 4, 2009 at 5:20 pm #178465ror100MemberHave had mine since release, and it’s survived with me in my classroom since early November without needing cleaning at all. No dirt marks at all.
Trust me – any laptop that survives half a term in a school is doing well (I’m a teacher not a pupil btw).
January 4, 2009 at 5:47 pm #178463bgalfondMemberYeah, mine certainly does get dirty as I take it with me all the time, but it never shows up! I have clean the screen every once in a while when it gets dusty, but the rest of the laptop looks great.
My one complaint is that I am soooo tired of people asking me if it is some apple product! It is white! Apple has not trademarked white! ARGHHH!

[/quote1231093422]Well, you can make it look look an Apple, but the reports so far indicate that OSX may not run so well:

Maybe someone on the forum can design an appropriate logo for a white Sammy?

January 4, 2009 at 6:37 pm #178464mauwongMemberMy white Sammy is pretty clean after a month of use (no fingerprint and dirt). I do wash my hand before touching it though (the OCD in me acting up). The color has a pearlescent sheen to it not plain white like Apple. No regret in choosing the white one.
January 4, 2009 at 9:18 pm #178461s162000MemberWondering if anyone can help my white Sammy has gone a funny colour. Its black? I thought it was dirt at first but it won’t come off?
January 4, 2009 at 9:56 pm #178468themausmanMemberI have to say I was afraid it would go dirty in a while but this far it has proved me wrong. I removed that ridiculous sticker below my keyboard and expected to see some marks after that. Not the case. I’m still impressed with my sammy. For the record my HP tablet is black and has got some nice covering on it. It constantly shows dust when not used for a couple of days. Sames goes for my regular 15″ hp laptop.

January 4, 2009 at 11:28 pm #178456newstMemberI’ll admit that white wasn’t my first choice but when faced with the decision to order white or wait un unspecified time for the blue Sammys to arrive in the US I dove in.
It was te right decision. I’m very happy with the matte finish, it doesn’t show fingerprints or get dirty, and having a keyboard that’s visible in low light conditions is an added plus.
January 5, 2009 at 12:34 am #178457SerendipMemberBlue was my first choice… until I read that it was glossy like the black. Then I knew I wanted the white, and I’m SO glad I got it! It stays very clean, and I use it for hours a day. I worried that the touchpad would get dirty, and I supposed at some point it will, but with almost two months, it’s still really clean.
I’m also asked if it is a Mac and I also reply that Apple doesn’t have a trademark on white! 🙂
January 5, 2009 at 1:42 am #178469uzubairuMemberI’m in the UK and chose a black NC10 initially.
After 3 weeks, I eBayed it (made a profit) and bought a white one.
It isn’t white but a pearlescent cream colour and it looks nicer than a Mac.Couldn’t stand the fingerprints making the case lid look grubby.
Every speck of dust showed up on the keyboard.
Easier to see keyboard at night when OH is sleeping.2 weeks of ownership and I still love using mine daily. It’s lovely and clean and never looks dirty.
I think I’ll steer clear of shiny cases in future because the fingerprint issue really bugs me as they detracted from the beauty of my old NC10.
January 5, 2009 at 10:47 pm #178466qqg3MemberI can tell you now that the finish on the white sammy feels like the one on my white sony vaio laptop which I’ve had for 4 years, thats still prestine and clean, no makrs. I think we’ll behappy for a while to come yet.
January 6, 2009 at 12:45 am #178467marooned99MemberI am glad I picked this color since I did not want to deal with wiping off fingerprints.
January 6, 2009 at 1:00 pm #178458kirkukMemberMines still looking new as ever.
I have a Sammy R60+ laptop in Piano black same as NC10 black and I have to say get loads of fingerprints (although Samsung did include a cleaning cloth) and the keys are much harder to recognise in low light.
I think I chose the right colour having the White one as it does look great in its matt finish !
