Hi all, just clicked and ordered my white sammy. i’ve read this forum over the past week or so and the support and enthusiasm definitely influenced my purchase… i didn’t need a netbook til i started reading the site 🙂
I’m really interested your top couple of tips that you’ve learnt with set up or whatever that will help me get the best from my new purchase.
Thanks and hope to be a regular contributor or most probably nag for a while.
1. Partitiion your C drive to be minimum 50Gb at setup
2. Move “My documents” to your D Drive
3. Remove MacAfee and install something else (suggest Avast)
4. Download some nice wallpapers – the standard ones are rubbish
5. Sort out the trackpad settings
6. Turn off Bluetooth if you are not going to use it
7. Marvel at how fantastic your NC10 isAll the “how-to’s” on the above are on this forum
I just got mine. And the first big question to sort out is whether to install XP Pro or not.
Pro Pro
1. Clean install, get rid of junk I don’t need
2. Have additional security and remote desktop features I may need/want for laterCon Pro
1. I can’t think of any other than it’ll be a few hours by the time I get it right (copy onto USB, make sure I downloaded the drivers etc.).I agree with all the suggestion above, but would add the 2 finger scroll as a very good tool to consider.

I ordered from Amazon… but the cc details needed to be re-entered so i missed the cut off time.. and wot no sammy tomorrow 🙁
my local store has one in black which i could pick up later.. but i was going to go radical and have white – i’ve read the heated debate re the colour… so i’m too afraid to ask whether i should wait a while til i can be available to get an amazon order and get white.. or go in a few hours and get black.

Buy a decent case as the one supplied is rubbish (check this page for some good cases)
I ordered the Case Logic case from Amazon and a sleeve from Lenovo (fits the S10). I have a bag already, so the sleeve from Samsung may well be enough for me.
I am not going to keep the Case Logic one as it is not very tight and it is more than I need.as for the color… i wanted black but i ordered mine before black was available at amazon. so i have blue. i don’t want white as it seemed to emulate MAC too much and too showy… my 2 cents.
The blue just seems wrong but i have no reason for saying or thinking that… i guess it may just be if you’re going to have a “colour” why not make it a colour signicantly different from black..
do you know what i mean ? that said, backtracking like mad, i’ve only seen the pictures of the blue.. in real life it may be fab.
you pleased with it ?
hmm how about the location of the SD card reader which is on the front right, under the silver trim. That seems to catch some people out.

The irony is that the vast majority of Mac’s are now silver/aluminium and black/glass. The Mac Mini has a white top and the cheapest MacBook is still white, the accessories still tend to be white as well though. I’m not even going to get into the big difference between a MAC and a Mac. 😛I only received a couple of days ago and actually haven’t even seen the netbook during the day! So I can’t even really comment on the color.
It is what it is at this point. we could spend days posting about the color, as i’m sure many have done 🙂
wait till pink hits the streets!Install Firefox or Google Chrome as alternatives for Internet Explorer.
Turn off touchpad features such as Chiral Motion and Pinch Zoom if you don’t intend on using them (although you should at least test them out).
You can toggle the num lock on and off using Fn+F11.
Buy a better case than the supplied Samsung one.

Before I met the Sammy, I was going to get the MSI Wind, and I wanted RED. But the only place I’d seen that color, was on the MSI website. I chose the White because of this forum, and the fact that it is NOT a flat white. It’s a pretty (and a bit feminine) iridescent pearl color. I love it. The white keys are what I prefer as well.

Also, have a look over at Tweak XP – dunno how much could be used on the Sammy….. (had to fix url – got the wrong address)
is there some sort of hypnosis involved in the marketing of the sammy.. cos i dont’ need one at all.. i just want one..
given this… i’m more resistant to blue.. but i reckon i’ll buy the next one i see… but not pink.
seems to me white is girls and unconventionals..
black = mac haters 🙂 and fast men 😉
