Fellow NC10 owners
I am experiencing a terrible problem with my unit. I get a small black bar that flickers in the middle of the screen, sometimes going up and down, making the computer unusable.
I tried reinstalling the video adapter and the bios drivers with no success. Some how, the problem appears more frequently when I open a browser, especially Firefox and Chrome.
I then found that resetting the NC10 to factory settings solves the problems. I went back to reinstalling every piece of software and see at what stage the problem would appear.
At one point, It seemed that uninstalling the McAfee virus software and rebooting the computer started the problem. Perhaps the process of removing the antivirus was also removing some important system file. I got the computer working for a few hours, but after a Windows update and subsequent reboot, it came back.
It’s driving me nuts and, since I am located in Rio de Janeiro, it will be a pain to service the NC-10 bought in the USA.
Has anyone experienced the same? Any hints or possible solutions?
Best, Eduardo
I’m fairly certain you have a hardware problem. I had a row of pixels on my display die and I’m getting the whole unit replaced. You should look into getting it repaired or replaced, unfortunately.
Sounds like a hardware fault, of some kind.
Though I’m not sure exactly what would cause those effects.
Does the problem occur straight away after you have started the machine up from cold, or does it take a while for it to start happening?
It can happen any time. Straight after turning it on, or after a while.
