Can someone please help me fix this problem:
I was watching a YouTube video and decided to plug in the power AC cord as the battery was getting low. As soon as I did that, the BatteryManager brought up a message stating that it had encountered a problem and had to quit…then it just shut down my computer.
I restarted and as soon as the Battery Manager loaded, again, it quit the program, but didn’t restart the computer. I thought perhaps the driver got corrupted so I went to Samsung’s site and downloaded the Battery Manager driver once again. After it installed and loaded the Battery Manager, it again quit stating it had encountered a problem. I tried unplugging the cord and restarting my computer…still crashes. I tried double clicking on the actual Battery Manager exe and it continually crashes.
Can someone PLEASE help me find an answer to this problem. I don’t know what I did to cause this and how to fix it!
Thank you,
Sweet-PP.S. I also just noticed that when I go into the Control Panel-Power Options, all the Power Schemes are missing and all the settings are greyed out with no settings in it or available to choose from! What happened here? How can I get back my Power Schemes? Must have been really bad whatever happened to take out the Battery Manager AND the Power Schemes. I sure hope someone can help me here 🙁
Thank you….
January 11, 2009 at 3:59 am #179342BeckyMemberHave you tried doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of the Battery Manager software? If something is corrupt, then reinstalling over the top as you appear to have done may not be able to fix the problem.
I deleted your accidental extra post BTW. 🙂

[/quote1231646757]Yes, Becky, I even went into Safe Mode, uninstalled the entire Battery Manager through Add/Remove Programs, then I re-installed the new driver from Samsung’s site, but still not working. I think from some things I am reading on the web that the Power Schemes part of Windows XP got corrupted! Also, my restore points got corrupted and I can’t go back! I sure hope someone here in this forum can come up with an answer for me!! This is awful!
Thanks for deleting my second post too, Becky.
January 11, 2009 at 4:18 am #179343BeckyMemberThat’s a shame, I was going to suggest utilising a restore point but looks like that’s out of the question.
I had a quick google search and someone with greyed out power schemes found this solution helpful. Look for “Restore Power Schemes/Configurations” on the following page and download/run the registry file it links:

Thanks Becky. I had found that last night and I did try it. It did give me back a few Power Schemes, not all the ones that were originally installed, and Battery Manager is not crashing any more…so I am grateful for that. I suppose I don’t need all the other power schemes as I usually make a customized one anyway, so I guess the situation is pretty much resolved. I am just wondering what I did to cause it because I don’t want to do it again! LOL. I am thinking that perhaps it was caused by plugging in the power cord while a video was playing? Well, I guess I’ll be careful next time…and hope it doesn’t happen again!
Thank you again for searching for help for me. God bless you! 🙂
