Hi everyone,
Gawd…I’m clueless.
What’s with the gray, swirly thing that appears beneath the mouse pointer?
It’s frickin’ annoying and I’ve had enough of it already.
I don’t think I am using the touchpad any different when it happens.
Help me identify the source of my angst and more importantly…how do I get rid of it?
Thank you very much and bye.
Sounds like the “Chiral Motion” feature you are accidently using.
Chiral Motion scrolling speed is controlled by the speed of finger motion. To scroll rapidly, make small quick circles. To scroll slowly, make large circles and move your finger slowly. The direction of scrolling can be reversed by changing the direction of motion.
If you don’t like it you can switch it off by doing the following:
Start
Control Panel
Mouse
Device Settings Tab
Click Settings
Click on Virtual Scrolling
Untick “Enable ChiralMotion scrolling”
More touchpad tips here. Also, check out the FAQ for a few other tips.
It’s a bloody good job you’re here atdatay2.
Thank you.
[Edit] I just did my first thnk you post…that link you click in other people’s replies.
That thing freaked me out at first, too…
It was one of the first things I turned off once I figured out what it was.

I use it when I remember I have it…I’m given more to using the space bar or arrow keys.
It’s like my laptop’s Virtual Scrolling, I hated it, but I got used to it and now love it! 🙂
I find it convenient after I figured out how to use it. I don’t have to raise my finger when I scroll though a long document.
Orange swirly thing ahead!
