How does the original command and conquer run, along with red alert 1?How easy is it to edit the ini’s?
[/quote1230141786]Those run easy – editing the INIs is pretty simple, load them up in your favorite text editor and mod away.
December 25, 2008 at 2:59 am #168488GhostfuryMemberTested today:
Anachronox works great
Final Fantasy VII for PC (XP patch) works super.
Final Fantasy VIII for PC (with some enhancements from here ) works also great.December 27, 2008 at 2:09 am #168546reasoNMemberI run Worms Armageddon w/ newest update (3.6.29.0_beta) on my Sammy NC10 and it runs perfectly! Please update the main post.
I just flipped Full Throttle on the netbook. It took me back. Anyone remember this epic game?
December 27, 2008 at 6:22 pm #168547reasoNMemberToday I tried to play The Vampyre Story Demo, but when I launched it after install nothing happened. The game has a fixed resolution of 1024×768 and I think this is where the problem lies. When I connected to a regular monitor and launched the game it opened without problems. So the Sammy has enough power to run the game but currently it will not open due to the resolution problems. I even tried editing the file “game.log” but had no luck with that.

“C:Program FilesShinyMessiahMessiahD3D.exe” +! in the shortcut-target.
Compatibility: Windows 98/MeDecember 29, 2008 at 10:35 am #168539BluebirdNC10Memberinstalled Midtown Madness 2 – yes an older racing game – and it ran perfectly on the highest available settings.
Ran it at 1024×600 – and curiously also gave me an option for 600×1024 which meant I could play the game in Portrait as well as Landscape.
Did do the tweak in dxdiag where i set the audio acceleration to low.
Installed a high quality mod into the game which doesn’t run to well on my similar specced desktop and it ran better on the little Sammy.
Gonna try a few more games now.
December 29, 2008 at 4:31 pm #168545RicardoricMemberJust got my NC10 in Black (matches my iPhone now) and have followed this thread with interest.
Using my Main PC I am downloading ‘demos’, transfering them across and then running them. It’s a good way to test if they work and being able to pick up older games cheaply nowadays also helps when using this as an ‘on the move’ games machine ie train to work 🙂
Tried Dawn of War Demo and it played realy well – no lag and certainly playable. May have to get this off Steam as a direct download to the NC10.
Company of Heroes – even when graphic options turned down plays very slowly and lags. Bearable @ tutorial level but when the game heats up its unplayable.
Football Manager 2007 runs like a dream with the -small_screen -windowed options added to icon. One definately for my train journey!
December 29, 2008 at 5:32 pm #168551jay_2kMemberhi all heres some newbie questions about getting games onto the nc10……
How do i set up my desktop so that i can use my dvd drive as if it is connected to my nc10?
Also…
for example red alert 2, does this always need a cd/dvd drive to play? or is it easy to get a no cd patch??
thanks in advance for your help

[/quote1230669743]firstly make sure you have a network cable that will fit into your desktop and your sammy.
then after connecting one end of the cable into the sammy and the other into the desktop, make sure both machines are up and running.
Then on the Sammy, goto start > control panel > network connections
Right click on the wired network connection (should show as Marvell Yukon) and goto Properties.
In the window that pops up scroll down to TCP/IP, and double click it.
Set the sammy IP to 192.168.0.1 (you can set your own ip address but make a note of it as you will need it for configuring the desktop) and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 – leave gateway blank.
Click ok and then ok again – you may have to reboot.
Do similar on the desktop, but this time, set the ip to 192.168.0.2 (or 1 more than whatever you selected yourself), subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and then the gateway as 192.168.0.1 (or whatever you set your ip as on the sammy.
Click ok and then ok again – you may have to reboot.
once both machines are rebooted, on the desktop, open My Computer and right-click on your dvd drive and select Sharing And Security. If you understand the risk of sharing, then click the message that pops up.
On the next window, click on “Share this folder on the network” and select a share name – i left it as the default. I also selected to allow users to change the data on the drive as I wanted to transfer stuff between my sammy and my compaq.
Click ok.
Back on your sammy, goto your desktop – you should hopefully have a network neighbourhood icon – click it.
Your new shared folder should show up – if you’ve done it correctly….

You mean a crossover cable right?
Good to see some more games being added to this thread. I have a copy of Midtown Madness 2 somewhere, definately going to get that on.

Unless you have a very old computer/network device most will apply automatic crossover allowing a standard ethernet cable to work fine. I never bother with crossover cables myself.January 1, 2009 at 10:12 am #168517s162000Member[quote1230804718=Alfihar]
