November 25, 2008 at 9:14 pm #168510s162000MemberHi everybody just got my NC10… wow im so impressed! A PROPER netbook! Anybody tried setting driver memory footprint to high in the intel settings? I can’t say i’ve noticed much difference hopefully a new bios will allow us to allocate further memory…..
Anyway the games i’ve tried: (Assume all at 800×600 32bit)
GTA 1 (from Rockstar website) Runs perfect
GTA 3 – Runs near perfect, slight slowdown in busy frames.
GTA Vice City – Runs OK, slowdown in busy frames (down to 15fps) but playable
GTA: SA – not playable
Return To Castle Wolfenstein – Runs OK, slowdown in busy frames
Star Trek Elite Force 1 – Runs perfect
Star Trek Elite Force 2 – Not playable
Jedi Outcast 2 – Near perfect on high settings
Project 64 1.6 – Depends on ROM. Goldeneye/Perfect Dark not playable but Lylat Wars runs perfect, as does Mario 64 and Mario Kart.
pSX – Runs perfectly mostly, I’ve been enjoying Crash Bandicoot! Oh and Time Crisis with mouse as guncon.
Kega Fusion/Zsnes – Run perfecly of course
Dos Box 0.72 – Runs most games of the 486 era well. E.G. Dark Forces/Theme Park. Currently enjoying Blake Stone Aliens Of Gold LOL
Grand Prix 3 – Runs perfect on software graphics (can somebody please test GP 4?)
DUKE 3d – Runs perfect (I use XDUKE)
Doom- Runs perfect (I use Legacy)
Quake/Quake 2 – Runs perfect
Max Payne – Runs OK, slowdown sometimes (no joke) I’ve never played this game before i’m actually addicted
Serious Sam – Not playable! This ran on my Eee 701 ok not sure whats going on with that…?Thats it at the moment. The Intel drivers are dated Feb 2008 whats the history on Intel updating their intergrated drivers? Anybody got an eee 901 to compare?
November 26, 2008 at 1:04 am #168478plasmapuffMemberGTA2
Warcraft 3- DOTA
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade (trying to get Soulstorm on it now)All of these work fine with excellent frame rates.
I’m switch them to high speed mode when running and used nlite to install XP (& remove unneeded start up items) but am otherwise using the 1GB out of the box.

[/quote1227740826]How much more performance do you get on speed mode? The function is not detailed in the user manual at all? I haven’t got my NC10 to test performance will have to do it tomorrow. Couple more games that work:
System Shock 2 (with xp patch) runs perfect
Max Payne 2 (demo) runs ok if on medium settingsNovember 26, 2008 at 11:21 pm #168498Richard TMemberI’m downloading 3d mark 05 at the moment and will be benchmarking silent, normal and speed and giving you a detailed report as soon as it’s done,i’ll also search for other netbook in the same catergory and see how they match up 🙂

Also call of duty 1 with the united offensive mod work ok, Just when other players are far away they are so Small you Just can’t hit them!November 28, 2008 at 11:18 pm #168520NNipponMember@Richard T: Call of Duty is the first… United Offensive is the Expansion Pack… then follows Call of Duty 2 🙂 just for Info.
November 28, 2008 at 11:23 pm #168484BeckyMemberAudiosurf (through Steam) works fine, though it needs to be run at minimal settings and resolution for a smooth ride.

I won’t be doing this test as the vram stays the same for each setting(i was hoping it would change)so the test will show no differances or very little..Also grand theft auto 3 runs find 15-35 fps so in my eyes thats playable i’m downloading vice city as we speak,as its much better than GTA 3

[/quote1227987693]Hmmm…. damn Intel graphics. Hope there is a bios update to fix the vram soon. Yeh Vice City runs pretty nice, playable, but not super smooth. It ran about the same on my 701 though? It’s like the Intel graphics are crippling the Atom CPU. Just been playing Lego Star Wars 2 demo that runs playable as well. Halo 1 does not run well though even using 3D Analyse.
November 30, 2008 at 9:20 pm #168500Richard TMemberI found vice city to be very smooth also downloaded the vice city multiplayer and played on the little whites server played very well!
