Good to hear… might try it on the NC20 too… though I’m more inclined to install one of the X games… 🙂
On another note:
I’m not sure you are allowed to refer to certain sites… just tell the peeps to Google.August 24, 2009 at 8:48 am #168613kyushoMemberI just finished my first game of Carcassonne on my NC10.
The game runs fine and quite fast also. No fancy hacks needed – just load and play.Pekka

September 7, 2009 at 6:41 pm #168615bruno1MemberIs everyone playing these games with a usb external cd dvd writer or with a virtue drive. I brought GTA Vice city (digital download) and it plays really good.

September 13, 2009 at 7:56 am #168616jasoninertiaMemberhi , new to this forum just got an nc10 , I cant seem to get farcry running on this thing yet it ran at an acceptable rate on my old asus 701 , also portal and half life 2 are a no go , anyone else try these games , is the graphics card in the nc10 not as good as the one in the asus 701 or have I missed something , feel a bit cheated if it is not as good as a two year old netbook
September 13, 2009 at 12:07 pm #168617jasoninertiaMemberalso the sound chip seems to not be able to run fruity loops studio with asio 4 all at all , the latency is over a second , I am begining to really not like this netbook , trouble is to take it back it would have to have something wrong with it , if these are issues that everyone experiences with the nc10 then I dont really see why it has won so many awards , sure the screen is nice and the hard drive is large , but I got the 3 cell battery in mine and the battery life is a joke to be honest 1.45 hours is not acceptable for a netbook in my opinion . is there any way I can increase the battery life of this 3 cell battery without resorting to switching the hard drive off and the screen brightness down to nothing , my asus 701 that is sadly dead now after two years of modding it was a much better machine than this in my opinion and that had half the processor speed of this new nc10 , anyone give me any tips to tweak this machine so it runs the software that my two year old laptop did not have any issues with , thanks
September 13, 2009 at 2:47 pm #168591jeepers01Participantjasoninertia – The NC10 is not purported to be a games machine and my view is if they run successfully then it’s a welcome bonus.
For the sound issues it is more than likely that the ASIO Driver For WDM Audio is the problem. Have you checked the ASIO faq?
From my point of view the NC10 has far exceeded my expectations but surely it is a far better machine than the Asus 701.
It’s unfortunate about the 3 cell battery but the 9 cell can be bought very cheaply and would solve your power issues.
September 13, 2009 at 7:24 pm #168607fingermanMemberAs above, you’ve got to realise it’s not a game machine but it’s great if games work ! I for one love playing the old Need For Speed Series and up to Carbon & Most Wanted the others play great ! (Well not really, Underground 2 is a struggle at times lol !)
The Wife’s HP monster will play these fine but I don’t want to carry round something like Moses’s stone tablet
BTW Get a decent battery http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.22496
September 14, 2009 at 2:34 pm #168618jasoninertiaMemberthanks for all the replys , I understand the nc10 is not a games machine , my question was really why the machine can not run games that an asus 701 could run no problem , surely the nc10 has higher specs than the old 701 , the asus 701 had a celeron if I remember right , could it be the atom chip that is throttling the GMA graphics card , I dont know , it just seems a bit weird seeing as they both have very similar cards but the nc10 has a much faster processor , I do like to push my gadgets to the extreme , all my gadgets run stuff you would not think they were cabable of , my ds runs ATARI os , my ipod was running a full Mac os , and my PSP was capable of runnings windows 95 , I just feel I should have got another asus , the only reason I got this nc10 was based on the battery life , wich I have found out is not the case as I have the crappy 3 cell battery , a word of advice to anyone buying one of the samsungs on sale in the uk at the moment , double check its a 6 cell or you will be dissapointed with the battery life , anyway I will keep tweaking the new baby and see if I cant get some hacked graphics drivers to work , this and 3d analyse might get some of my games running , by the way I use my lappy mostly for music production on the go , so I thank jeepers01 for the advice regarding the asio driver FAQ i will have a look at it and see what im doing wrong , failing that there is always th external soundcard I have lying around .
nice one guys
