MemberCan somebody please tell me what this key accomplishes? I see the choices when I press the key but I don’t understand them. I can’t find any information in the user’s manual. When would I use this function?

MemberFunction+F8 toggles through modes for the Easy SpeedUp Manager.
Silent – Low noise and low power consumption mode
Normal – Normal Mode
Speed – Maxiumum performance mode. The system operates in its maxiumum performance, and system resources are allocated to the currently active program with priority for maximum pefornace.January 14, 2009 at 10:01 pm #179786s162000
MemberNo it’s not in the manual you’re right, and it should be because it’s a very useful function.

MemberIt’s in the flash guide included with the computer, just take a look at it. Under ‘Keyboard’, 4-5 pages in.

MemberSilent Mode under clocks your cpu so it uses less power, and sets the screen brightnes to low. I have seen teh CPU run from 600mhz to 1000mhz in silent mode. Due to lower power there is less heat and the fan never comes on. I use that mode apretty much all the time when surfing. Tho I do pop the brightness up a couple of notches 😉

MemberI had disabled many items from the “Run” section of the registry to stop unecessary apps from loading and taking resources, one was the Fn keyboard app for brightness, Volume etc, but now I have reinstated this, I get no screen display on Fn F8. Can someone post which app to load for this function.
ThanksJanuary 16, 2009 at 11:58 am #179789Dom01
MemberTo be sure I will have to check my sammy at home but I am ptretty sure it is Magic keyboard and Display manager. A lot of people have said battery manager to but I have seen no benefit from this. If those two do not work I will re post from home,
I have a question about the function F8 options. in performance mode i know it puts all the power into the selected application. Is that the application that is selected when you enable that mode or will it swich to another program when you switch to it? When I load a game the diplay for those options is hard to see so can I enable it 1st and then load the game? or will it pump all teh poer into something stupid like AVG?
Cheers

MemberDoes anyone know why my fn F8 wont let me select maximum performance? It only lets me use SILENT and NORMAL, I can enabled MAX in the batterymanager, but once I have disabled it again via fn F8 its no longer selectable again via fn F8?
Is this normal?

The maximum performance is only applied to the application you currently have selected.
Are you trying to activate it while on the desktop without an application selected?May 2, 2009 at 6:55 am #179795stormy
