A web search seems to indicate that this issue is quite common. But, the same web search also mentioned another free product from Macrium: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp .
Several people posted positive comments about the program and the company so I may give it some consideration.

Well, I finallyreceived my serial number from Acronis. Now, they say that I have to obtain my copy of the program from a promo CD from a magazine. Is this the only place I can find a copy of the program that will work with their serial number?–Ken
[/quote1234054733]Someone in the SlickDeals has uploaded the personal edition to rapidshare. You may want to google it (I am not sure whether I should be linking to it here),
February 9, 2009 at 11:27 am #182139jezMemberYeah prob best not to link to it, thanks for not doing so. I know it might be a bit over protective but I try to keep the forums squeaky clean.
Cheers 🙂

February 16, 2009 at 11:56 am #182140MarkRMemberI just registered using the link, and got an immediate 2nd mail with serial number.
It is not possible to download the product directly from Acronis – but a quick Google threw up at least 3 versions out there. PM me if you would like links.
I will try to download this evening.

February 18, 2009 at 4:33 pm #182163NobbyMemberThe serial number only works with the version of Acronis from Personal Computer World magazine. It’s not officially available to download.
February 18, 2009 at 10:31 pm #182143MarkRMemberNot officially !
February 19, 2009 at 10:49 am #182152ToneMemberComputer active is also running the same offer…

February 19, 2009 at 2:40 pm #182161miserlyMemberI didn’t realize you had to get the magazine with the CD. Lucky you folks on the other side of the pond.
For those of us Stateside and those who missed out, DiscWizard from Seagate is really Acronis under the hood without the name or the cost. Available for download for free for use on any disc drive.

Did you manage to use it when no Seagate/Maxtor disk is present?
