I hope this is in the right place….
I’ve been using the NC10 all day, installing and updating programs, email, web browsing, getting used to the settings and options… it’s been just about non-stop. And I got the “low battery” warning a few minutes ago, and frowned and then realized… it’s been a bit over 8 hours! Sure, the programs weren’t hogs, but several Firefox windows, lots of program downloads and updates with numerous reboots, (no music yet) – pretty much all the reasons I bought it, so real world for me, and I can’t complain about eight hours!
YAY, NC10!! 🙂
November 23, 2008 at 10:17 pm #170950jezMemberCool, we’ve heard of that kind of performance in lab tests and things but it’s great to hear of it for real. I don’t think I’ve run mine into the ground yet – it’s actually quite hard to do!
November 23, 2008 at 10:24 pm #170958Richard TMemberWow i didn’t think it would be possible! Can’t wait to test mine!
November 23, 2008 at 10:25 pm #170957adatay92MemberJust ordered mine from Dixons so can’t wait until i’m getting close to this kind of battery performance.
November 23, 2008 at 10:45 pm #170952GalegoMemberI am testing the battery today.
I have been surfing no stop, playing music, running few applications for the last 2.45 mins.
The battery info still shows 56% left = 3h.
This is PRETTY impressive.
PS, i am NOT using low brightness!!!!

The race is onNovember 23, 2008 at 11:16 pm #170955SerendipMemberI just yelled at my Palm, which doesn’t get anywhere near that much time before needing to be recharged!
Oh… I didn’t even think of brightness… I haven’t figured out how to change it, it was full brightness!! And I didn’t play around to see how much time you get once you get the warning, I just plugged it in.
Tons of surfing (Firefox), 27 Windows updates, Open Office docs, Thunderbird Mail and newsgroups, numerous other downloads, many requiring reboots. I know it’s not beating it into the ground, but… I’m happy!
I’m really impressed. I love this netbook!!

[/quote1227518536]Are you sure you were getting that figure of over 8 hours with Wifi and FULL brightness? The brightness is the biggest battery killer and while I don’t think 8 hours is out of the question, I can’t see it with full brightness. Power to you if it is though! 🙂 (no pun intended!)
November 24, 2008 at 10:02 am #170951jezMemberI tend to have mine of mid brightness and even drop it down a little in dark rooms. I actually find it’s too bright on full! Are my eyes over sensitive lol? I sense a topic for another site poll lol!

[/quote1227534172]I second that. I generally use mine on 1 or 2 bars of brightness, after initially only using it at 1.
I think a poll would be ideal to see how many users, of which there seem to be many now, use higher or lower brightness and we can then see a general “brightness” overview.

I had no idea how to change the brightness, so it was however it was set at the factory. I RTFM, and it’s at 4 bars, right in the middle. I can’t imagine ever wanting it brighter than this, and now that I know how to change it, will likely lower the brightness! 🙂
Wifi, the entire time. Well… except when I was updating the firmware for the router, which didn’t take more than a couple of minutes.
