Apparently these are available in PC World rebranded as an Advent something or other, anyone tempted over the NC10?
I looked at a couple of the advent ones the re-badged MSI wind AKA the advent 4211 and the advent 4213 which is probably antother re-badge but I am not sure which one. A very bad experience with an advent PC a long long time ago still makes me nervous of anything Dixons Group sell under their own banner, that along with the rave reviews I have seen on on the NC10 for the display, keyboard and battery life were much more favourable so whilst more money it got my vote.
I was seriously condsidering the eeepc when it first came out but the screen and keyboard were much too small and to load it up with any form of storage or windows took the price through the roof, it also looks too much like a kids play pc for my liking as well!
I think the level of useability and portability that the 10 inch style machines have reached is right on the money for most users, I run very few games or heavy duty applications and if I do need to I can use the desktop for that.The ECS G10IL was firmly on my radar, the built in 3G seemed to be attractive to me at the time but I became less interested in that side of it. I also thought it was “good looking” – an important aspect given that the Mrs has to sign off on all my purchases ;)!
But some people have since questioned the build quality. I had a go on one when testing the NC10 in currys and I guess this existance of this site tells you all what I preferred lol!!
The big plus was the keyboard, the ECS G10IL keyboard just didn’t seem so good to me although this is likely to be down to personal preference so I guess the real test is to go into a store and test them out for yourself :)!
