MemberHas anyone seen the Easy SpeedUP Manager that is mentioned in the User Manual on page 126?? I’ve created a trimmed down XP install and only want to install the minimal Samsung applications that I need. I have the Easy Display Manager installed to give me the system shortcut functions and OSD but the Fnc + F8 to boost performance does not work. According to the manual I need this Easy SpeedUP Manager to enable this function but of course I can’t find it online. My assumption is it’s in the MagicKBD app that is available from Samsung’s web site. Can anyone confirm this? This function did work before I did the new install so I’m just trying to track down the software and don’t want to install something if it isn’t needed. The only other place I can think it may be is in the Battery Manager software but I’m trying to cut back on apps running in the background to keep the device as lean as possible.

Memberthis occasionally disappeared from my xp unit, for it to open up from shortcut fnc key i needed to reinstall display manager as well and it came back.

MemberThese are the install options from the supplied disk:
My guess would also be the “Magic Keyboard”

MemberI could never find out what magic keyboard does, i do not have it installed and speed up still works but it is an odd bit of software
As a note samsung update plus is next to useless, i had it on my samsung r700 and it never found any updates yet the website did have updates.
And even worse the only way you can check if there is an update on the samsung site is to compare driver number against that in device manager. They replace the update date on their website couple of weeks or so except firmware even when theres no actual update

[/quote1227257068]Do you mean Speed Step is an odd bit of software? If so, why do you say that? Also, do you have the battery manager installed?

MemberWell I found out that the MagicKBD software is required to get the EasySpeedUp working – Fn + F8.

Memberdoes anyone know what easy speedup manager does? It seems to be program specific – ie. it does not give you the “speed” option unless you have a program running and as far as I can tell it only changes the power saving mode to “always on”. Also does it work with battery manager uninstalled?

MemberI haven’t tried it with battery manager uninstalled but I can disable it and then see if Easy Speed Up still functions correctly. I’ll do this later on this evening when I’m back in the house. Easy speed up is just a quick key combination for selecting a power profile. Battery Manager seems a good tool as well as it will automatically set a profile depending on ac or battery and you can also customise this and also alter it with a right click on the task bar icon. Will be good to see if MagicKBD is dependant on Battery Manager though.

MemberIt is just a short-cut key combo (Fn + F8) that changes the Battery Manager option (i.e Maximum Battery, Normal, Maximum Performance). You need Magic Keyboard running to get this to work. I keep Magic Keyboard running because then it’s fast to use shortcuts for changing volume, brightness etc. etc.
Another way to check what program does what is to run “msconfig” and change the startup options. You can also search on http://www.processlibrary.com to see what process does what.

MemberActually does anyone know how to disable easy speed up manager? ever since I installed major keyboard (running win 7 so not the native samsung install), on every start up i get an error message saying speed up manager has failed. But I can’t see it in start up/services or find out how to repair it. The error message is very annoying!
