right i have the iso for windows 7 and i have a 8gb flash drive. i have tried like 4 different methods and tutorials and have had no luck, pleas help 🙁
not sure how to make the usb stick bootable, but when I tried putting the install files for Ubuntu 8.10 onto a usb stick from an iso, I just opened the iso with 7-Zip (any other zip program should do such as Winzip or Winrar) and extracted all the files directly to usb stick.
As above, extract all files to the USB stick. You can then just start from within XP- open up USB locate the exe file and your away. Dont choose the upgrade option, the computer will shutdown and startup several times but will continue with the install no problem. If you make a full backup first, then if you hit any problems just restore back as before- using F4 on startup to get to the recovery programme.
thanks keencyclist, i presume i choose the custom option and then install to whatever partition
Yes thats it, I was really surprised how easy the install was. All you need to do then is load a few extra drivers which are all listed in the windows 7 thread.
can anyone recommend free partition software that i can resize and create a new partition with?
