I finally got my Sammy home last night and spent several hours updating, setting up etc. I installed Ubuntu (Linux newbie here) successfully off of a USB flashdrive.
When I get the Boot Loader menu, for some reason it has an entry for Vista/Longhorn loader but I have not tried to install Vista at all. Is this something I need to worry about and rectify?
I’m not running Linux on my NC10 but it might be the bootloader entry for the Samsung Recover Solution you can enter when you press F4 at startup.

My Ubuntu boot loader also has an entry for Vista/Longhorn, but I have installed Windows 7 Beta.
I would try selecting what Grub thinks is Vista/Longhorn and as long as you can still boot into your Windows XP partition, I wouldn’t worry about it.
