MemberHi all
I’m about to settle all my netbook decision making by getting the NC10 and if I do go for it then I have to choose a colour! Another decision!
And all the white NC10s I’ve seen in shops look absolutely filthy. Really discoloured, really grubby, the keyboards in particular and the edges of the lid where people have been trying them out. Goes for the NC20 too and they’ve only been in shops a few weeks.
Now I know that stock on display in shops are going to be subject to rougher treatment than I would give my netbook, but still it makes me wonder how resistant it is to natural use…
Does anyone have a white NC10 which is starting to show some wear and not be quite so white as it was? Don’t be ashamed, we won’t think it’s you!
This would be really helpful to know
Cheers

MemberI own a white NC10 since January and it has been in heavy use in- and outside, on various locations and public transport.
Plus i’m a smoker and so far the NC10 is in perfect condition.
I’m using a special Notebook plastic cleaner once a week.
NC10 seems to be somewhat resistant to scratches (way more than the old white macbook for example)
I recently compared my NC10 to a new NC20 and i was not able to tell a difference in terms of color or “whiteness”.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: Removed all my late night typos….

MemberI concur with Don_Audio. I have had my White NC10 since early December. Still looks new. I like the fact that the finish doesn”t show fingerprints.

MemberSame for me: barring some dust, my white NC10 still looks like the day I got it.

MemberDust? Then you’re not using it enough! ;O)
Seriously, thanks everyone for your input. Must admit, I’m surprised you all say it’s as good as new. All the white NC10s I’ve seen are very grubby indeed, mostly the keys.
And I noticed today it’s not just the NC10. There was a white Eee PC on somebody’s desk in the office and its keyboard is no-longer-white too.
Really making me think twice about getting the white one…

MemberPlease notice:
They keys of the NC10 were never clear white in first place. They are grey-white.

Membermy white nc 10 looks still the same and i use it every day for at least a few hours since the end of january, I also smoke and as far as I remember I have not cleaned it with anyhting.
I would not hesitate one second if I had to buy a new one, White is the way to go!April 22, 2009 at 8:59 pm #189461simonkn
MemberI have to agree theough as someone who has ben NC10 shopping and browsing in the past month… All the machines look filthy. But that tells me two things – that the people of today have dirty hands and dont wash before going out and that the Sammy has received more “playing and browsing” than most of the other machines on the stand.
I’m sorry though, i turned to the dark side and bought black!April 22, 2009 at 9:14 pm #189446TCMuffin

Me too 🙂April 23, 2009 at 1:07 am #189449uzubairu
MemberMy white one is still in a mint condition after 5 months of ownership and is fingerprint free.
I originally purchased black, but hated the grubby look of the fingerprints on the casing, so sold it (made a profit) and bought white.
White all the way!

MemberI’ve had my white one since the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, use it pretty much daily, and it still looks like it did when it was new (other than fingerprint smudges and a couple scratches on the chrome).
But, I also wash my hands before I use my computers.
