I came across some tests
http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-144258.html

suggesting that the H.264 codec bundled with DivX 7 is at least comparable with Core AVC.
The former can be downloaded for free

I am wondering whether replacing the CCCP / K-lite codec with the DivX one would improve 720p performance on the NC10. I have no knowledge on this business so can anybody try this program out and tell us the result?
Yes, the DivX codec is better than K-lite/CCCP at 720p, I would recommend you then use the DivX-codec for H264 and K-lite for the rest, I don’t think you need CCCP.
I am using K-lite + Core AVC Pro + Real Alternative myself and this combo plays anything I’ve come across so far.
I’m not that much into Codecs.
All i installed is Divx7 and 720p Video runs smooth, even in Windows Media Player.
Thanks all. What I am not sure is how to install these two sets of codecs properly. It seems that MCP tries to use the DivX codec all the time and results in error when playing QT encoded mp4 files. Is there any way to force MPC to switch to the k-lite codec automatically?
