MemberHi all
I bought a the NC10 from Pixmania, via Amazon UK, on January 4, 2009.
The backlight on the netbook stopped functioning today on startup. It is possible to see the screen very dimly, but because the backlight does not work, it is impossible to use. I can confirm that the backlight setting is ON (FN+F5) and that the brightness is on full (FN + up arrow). Nor does backlight function when I enter BIOS – so this suggests a hardware problem.
Has anyone head of this problem before with the NC10?
Now, here’s the complicated part – I am in Brazil and Samsung Brazil do not even know this product!
I have contacted Samsung Support in the UK and they tell me that I will have to ship it back to the UK! I wonder if it would be cheaper for me to ship it to an authorised repairer in the US, even if I have to pay for the repair myself. Or perhaps I could buy an inverter and have it shipped here – problem is I have no idea where to buy parts for the NC10 – any suggestions?

That wont help as it just sits over the top of a working screen. It’s not a replacement screen.February 22, 2009 at 11:47 am #184602rtrip
MemberO… I should have read the link.
I guess replacing the inverter is the best option. I would just complain to Samsung Brazil and see if they can’t order the part for you. You can also try asking Amazon to exchange it, or see if Samsung UK will pay for shipping. That’s all I can think of, all long shots.
