Correct Size SD Card for ReadyBoosy

Hi, not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but i couldn’t see it, so:-

I am looking for an SD card or micro sd card with adapter that can be modified to flush fit the SD slot on the netbook as i want to use it solely for ReadyBoost and i hate the way it looks having a card sticking out of the front!!!

Anyone got any suggestions?

I don’t think this is possible. The Samsung has a short slot for a full sized SD card, which is why it sticks out so far when installed.

You can’t use a mini or micro SD card in the slot without an adapter as the connectors won’t match. All the adapters are configured as a full sized SD card.

You would need a custom made adapter to connect a micro SD card in the Samsung slot without projecting from the chassis.

One solution maybe to use an RS-MMC card, they are around half the length of an SD card and come with an adapter (that contains no electronics) to make them the same length as a standard SD card. You could buy one of these, glue the adapter onto the card so that it doesn’t come loose, then cut down the adapter to make it sit flush.

Only thing is that I’m not sure what the performance of the RS-MMC cards is like, it shows up in Vista as being able to have ReadyBoost enabled though.

Genius! I will give it a try when i can get my hands on a RS-MMC card :))

Well I now have the adapter part in several pieces, it’s proving to be tougher than expected. I’m going to take a hacksaw to it tomorrow and buy some better glue when I’m in town next (which I also need to fix the SD card which came apart).
