Sometimes I have problem connecting to this site. In Firefox and Konqueror, I only get a blank page. Opera shows an error page; I’ll paste its content here next time it happens (something about Connection Refused).
I have no clue why it happens, but it sure is annoying. Anyone know how to fix it?
OS: Slackware 12.0
Browser: Tried with Firefox 2.0.0.12, Konqueror 3.5.7, Opera 9.52.
DHCP
A few people have had a problem with the “flood control” security features of the site. ie too many requests in a short period of time.
My host also has some strict security measures but is a bit cagey about going into detail. I’ve asked them about it a few times because my view is that security is great but if it stops people using the site then what’s the point?!
Of course I understand the need to be secure as sadly there are people out there who enjoy screwing with your site for no real reason :(. I’ve been on the other extreme where my sites haven’t lasted in the wild more than a couple of days so given the choice I guess I’d pick secure. Of course the ideal is a perfect balance between usability and security :)!
Let me know what you get back and I’ll see what I can do. Apologies for the inconvenience.
That’s very helpful information, thanks a lot. I suspect that the problem is Fasterfox, an extension to Firefox I use which overrides the default connection settings.
What you mean with “Let me know what you get back”? If you wonder how I can write here now, it’s because this problem only occurs from time to time.

AVG’s link tester used to trigger auto site bans as the software would test a load of links very quickly. AVG fixed this in the end by keeping a central link database!
OK, I haven’t posted the error message. The reason is quite simple: the problem hasn’t occurred since I made this topic. The weird thing is that I haven’t changed anything – still use Firefox with Fasterfox. Have you done anything jez?
Well, I’m glad it works now! =)
