Memberi recently bough a vga to 3 rca component cable from ebay (link below) to try to connect the nc10 to a tv to watch movie and such on it….however, it doesn’t work
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=120357283489
i am wondering if anyone can explain to me why it doesn’t work, it seems like it should…is there any drivers/hacks i can download to make it? and most importantly, has anyone successfully connected their nc10 to a tv (excluding of course vga to vga monitor input which most older tvs dont have)?
please any help appreciated, thank u

MemberI think the clue is in the description –
Connects PC / laptop to LCD projector, HDTV, DVD Players with VGA to RGB support, and other Y / Pr / Pb component RGB display system
Note- doesn’t mention TV.

MemberWhat you have there is a VGA-RGB Cable not Component.
They are not directly compatable and I briefly explain why herehttp://www.sammymobile.com/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?143.10

Memberit is a VGA to component cable….i tried it on my HDTV and it doesn’t work either….i’m thinking it is a resolution problem that is not making it work?

MemberWhat I meant was that this is just a passive cable that breaks out the RGB lines from VGA and should work in a RGB computer monitor.
This type of cable would not work with a non-HD tv as they are not compatable signal wise.
Maybe you can mention what TV’s you are trying this with to shed some more light on the problem?

Memberi tried connecting it my sony wega crt tv and to my panasonic viera hdtv and it didn’t work….on the sony at least there was some static when connected, but on the hdtv nothing but black….i tried switching between 800/600 res to 1024/600 and no difference

MemberOn the Panasonic you probably need to go into the Colorspace adjustment menu item and select RGB and not Component Video which is the default usually.
The Wega will not play a signal from the VGA port of a computer without a scan converter of some kind.

Memberso even though this cable connects to the vga port on the nc10 and at the other end connects to the sony wega with the red, green, blue connectors in the back it will not work? and the only solution is spending $40 on a converter which will include the cable anyway? is there an alternate solution or hack that will make the intel card display it properly, the reason i ask is because i read the intel card included with nc10 is capable of doing tv out but it’s just not enabled

Memberanyone? a good converter costs more than $80….i am wondering if there is an alternate solution

Memberi just tried connecting my nc10 to my hdtv, at first its just a black screen then i accessed the tv menu setting and changed the extension socket from component to PC(RGB) and it works very nicely. i am using the vga socket on the hdtv though and a normal vga computer cable so not sure if that makes a difference.

Memberyes it works using the vga to vga cable, the one that comes with your lcd monitor, but it is supposed to work with external monitors or hdtvs, i’m trying to connect it to my CRT sony vega tv using the cable i described any more ideas

Memberso you have made it work on your hdtv using the vga cable but not the other cable?

MemberNevermind. I guess VGA VGA was mentioned above.

Memberi tried VGA (from NC10) to S-Video (TV), but only got some black and white zig-zag lines. VGA-VGA works flawlessly, but my RPTV doesn’t have VGA.
So, it’d be nice if there’s a way to make it work without an $80 converter box!
